Support Group
on September 17, 2011 9:23 pm
My surgeon requires one visit to the support group at the hospital so I went today.  It was very interesting and not what I expected.  They had protein drinks that we could sample and they actually tasted good.  The nutritionist spoke on getting on track and staying on track and then several post op patients spoke.  I was very surprised to have two former banders in the group.  I just keep hearing more and more of that.  Also, heard from a gastric sleeve patient.  As I sat and listened emotions would just wash over me and would swing from one side of the spectrum to the other.  I am scared.  Then I am determined.  Then I am excited.  Then I think no way I can do this.  So much to think about but now think how can I not do this.  Life altering....but life saving.

Yep, Still Here

So, it has been a couple of months.  Since then,

I had my sleep study and I do not have apnea.  Big surprise there.  Diagnosed with snoring...LOL...treatment plan - weight loss.

Saw my mitral valve prolapse/dysautonomia doctor.  This wasn't a scheduled visit.  I just wasn't feeling right.  My EKG was fine but my pulse was high.  Lots of problems with anxiety and IBS.  She doubled two of my meds and thought it might bring down my BP as well.

Diagnosed with high blood pressure.  Been fighting this one.  Convinced it was just because I was nervous at the doctor.  So add another medication to the list.  My PCP wanted me on 10 mg but I convinced him to let me try 5 mg.

And I've finished my 4th visit in my 6 months.  3 more to go.  At this point I am supposed to call my surgeon and let them know which surgery I am doing.  I DON'T KNOW.  Still go back and forth.  But I don't want to delay the process so I've got to make a decision.  Aaaaggghhhh!
