Surgeon Testimonial

David Schumacher, M.D.
First impression was fantastic! I think he genuinely cares for his patients.

Now, five days post-op and I still have nothing but positive things to say about Dr. Schumacher and his staff! He's funny, but direct. Very willing to spend the extra time to answer questions!

My Story

I was a slightly overweight child, but thinned out in middle school and high school. I was very active, playing soccer and ultimate frisbee, volleyball, basketball and hiking and caving. After high school I got my SCUBA certification and was a life guard for a couple years. Until I was 23, I stayed below 130 pounds.

At 23, I became pregnant with my daughter. I went up to 170 while I was pregnant, and back down to 145 afterwards. I worked out at a gym at my workplace and tried to stay in shape. At 30, I had my second child and during my pregnancy, went up to 200 pounds. I also was in a wheel chair due to health problems. After having my son, I gained weight. I went up to 225.  Then I became pregnant with my third child. I remember looking at my OB/GYN chart and reading "morbidly obese" on it. I never thought of myself as overweight. I know that's weird, but my self-image was still of a thin, hiking, mountain climbing young girl.

After the birth of my third child, I gained more weight. I felt sick a lot of the time and I could do less and less.

I have been diagnosed with high blood pressure, fibromyalgia, high blood sugar (though not diabetic, yet!), high cholesterol and arthritis. It hurts just to move around. I am on too many medications and I really need to lose weight and get healthy again!!

I was at an appointment with my friend after attending a bariatric clinic in Columbus. I drove to Kettering with her and met Dr. Schumacher. I asked about the surgery for myself and am now scheduled!! I'm going to have the sleeve and I'm so excited about getting healthy again!! I can't wait! February 1st can't come soon enough!
