Dr. Mathews and his staff are wonderful people. I met him at the simenar, he was very friendly and understanding. Then on the 23rd I went to his office for my 1st appt.. the staff were excellent I got approved for surgery within 2 days! Dr Mathews and Nancy are blessings to me. I would reccomend them to any and everyone. This man is going to save my life!

An over due update!
on February 4, 2009 3:09 pm
Wow what a long time away. i'm so glad to be back on here and have alot to share. First off, right before Halloween we found out my 10 yr old son Nathan has Type 1 Diabetes. He is doing well with it now. It was a huge shock to us all and I wish I could be the one with it instead of him. He isn't letting it slow him down tho and I'm very very proud of him for being such a trooper about it.

Secondly, I have lost 102 pounds since surgery!!!!! I'm so excited. I have lots more energy and do alot more things now. I am currently looking around at some gyms to join. I went slothes shopping the other day and I can finally fit into some cute things. I'm not where I wanna be but I'm not over 400 pounds anymore. I'm still working out and I'm motivated to lose even more. I thank God everyday for all my sucess.

What a wonderful week/weekend!
on October 6, 2008 4:30 am
All I can say is WOW! I got out of the house everyday this past week! Thursday was a huge day for me.. I went shopping for the first time in a very very long time! I got my nails done (with a butterfly hand painted on 2 of them of course) and walked around the mall a lil. (A place I haven't been into in years!) I went to several other stores as well. I couldn't believe it! I have been house bound long enuff! Mostly because of walking being painful and my panic disorder but I'm working on both of those now so I can enjoy life! Friday night was such a sweet blessing for me. Me, Rob and Aunt Mary went to see Colleen Cook at St. Vincents hospital. She was a guest speaker for the Bariactric convention going on there. She is such an inspirational person. She even sat down and talked with me a few mins and signed my book! Everyone should get this book. It is called The Success Habits of Weight-Loss Surgery Patients. I took lots of pictures that I will be adding to my profile shortly. I got to also see my Michele and her hubby, Carmen and Mr. John, Susan, Nancy, Angie, and Lousie. I also met lots of people that have been major sucesses after weight loss surgery. I must admitt that I was nervous about going but I did it and I'm glad. Saturday we had a bridal shower for my neice Heather and it was alot of fun also. They had a cake there for her and I wasn't even tempted! I'm so proud of myself. I really am slowly turning into a butterfly! butterfly Thank you Lord for all you have done for me!

Doing Great.
on September 24, 2008 7:07 am
Tomorrow I will be 1 month out and I'm doing fabulous! I have lost lots of inches and I'm sure lots of pounds. I don't have a scale around here yet that can weigh me but I go back to Dr. Mathews office Oct. 22. I have gotten sick a few times but it's from either eating too fast or not chewing up my food well enough. I have started on some regular foods like chicken breast strips non-breaded and grilled and they are good. I have made Eggfaces pizzas and they are yummy too. I can already tell that I am getting around better than before. And my regular Dr has got my meds figured out so I'd doing great. I thank God everyday for the life saving tool in my life. For if not for him it wouldn't have happend. Him and my family and friends gave me the strengh to do this. I love them all!
I have been taking flinstone vits plus iron and tums for the calcium. But I think I'm gonna order me some bariactric vitamins soon. I'm still having trouble getting in all my water but I'm making progress. I have been exerciseing more too. I'm so proud of myself!

on September 3, 2008 6:12 pm
I have lost 25 pounds in all so far! I got my staples out and he said everything looked beautifully! I'm soooo happy! After my appt. my sister and I met up with my est friend Michele at a clothing store called Simply Fashsions and it was great. They have some awesome clothes there for really low prices! After that we went to Micheles and hung out for awhile then came home and called everyone I know and told them about my progress! I'm very proud of myself and I will start stage 2 soft foods on Sunday! New pics of me and my medical team in photos. :)  pink butterfly

My Story

I'm a SAHM and have been battling with my weight since I was about 10 years old. I am at my heaviest ever.. 394... so scary to actually tell people that. I do have a few other health problems going on such as depression, panic and anxiety disorders, low circulation in my legs, and GERD. All brought on by being obese I'm sure. I am married to a wonderful man named Rob, who supports me and helps me in every way possible. He works outside the home and does a lot inside too. Because of my weight it's really hard to keep everything going in the housework department. I do what I can but he never gripes about helping me. I can't wait to be able to do all the things in the house so he can just come home after a long day and just relax. I don't get out of the house much at all simply because I can not walk around or stand for long periods of time. I have missed out on too much life to continue down this path.. I'm ready for a change. I'm ready for the real Jennifer to break out of her shell and live!!!  I hope to reach around 200 lbs.. with my height of 5'11" I think I can really pull it off.  Any and all friends I can get here would be awesome.. I think we all need the support and understanding of others that know how we feel.

Well that's it about me if you have any questions just ask. :)
