My Story

I have been heavy the majority of my life. As a younger kid, I used to gain weight in the winter, but would lose it come summer time and then I hit teenage years and quit being so active in the summer. So, the weight gain started and never ended.  I hated being overweight, but couldnt' do anything about it. I tried lots of different diets and while they worked for awhile, as soon as I quit, I gained it all back, plus some.
I was talking to a family member of my husbands and he had the RNY about 9 months ago and that got me started to research it and finding a physician. Well everything seemed to  come together quickly and the insurance approved me instantly. So the next step, I had to quit smoking and that didn't seem to be as hard as I thought, with some help from a stop smoking pill. It is harder now that I am not taking the pills, but I keep at it day by day.
I had my surgery (the RNY) on February 2, 2009 and 2.5 weeks later, I have lost 30 lbs and seem to be doing great with it.
