 Hi my name is Lauren and I am a military spouse. My husband is in the army and we are stationed at Fort Stewart, Ga. I will be getting the surgery on 1-9-09. I am so excited but scared at the same time. I have two beautiful daughters 5 year old and a 6 month old. I'm ready to take on my new life !!! If anyone has any advice for me please CONTACT me !!! I NEED IT.

So I have about a week until my pre-op diet. I will be going home to Fl on the 25th of Dec and starting my pre-op on the 26th. So not going to be fun being home and not being able to eat !! I have ordered my vitamins and protein stuff. I got 2 books also. I am getting so excited !!! I am so addicted to youtube and OH lol... All I keep doing is looking up gastric bypass surgery. I didn't realize how expensive this was going to be though. Oh well it's soooo worth every penny I spend !!! Kinda sad I have no comments... Maybe no one reads my page lol..

My Story



10/08/2008- I went for my first support group for Gastric Bypass. There were alot of people there. Alot of them probably wouldn't get it done once they told us that there was a fee. Most of them got up and walked out. I know that I am determined and no small fee would stop me !!!  I then stayed after for the other class it was for people who already had Gastric most of them had Lap-Band. I wasn't sure at that point which one I wanted. Oh well I just knew I was getting a class outta of the way !!!

10/22/2008- Today was my FIRST apt with Dr. Angstadt. He was great. Everything was explained to me and I passed. Next was going to the Psychologist. I weighed in at 208 with a BMI of 39.7. A couple of days before I was 211 must of been nerves !! That same day I called to see if I could get in with Dr. Turner. I got me in !!! Although I didn't pass because of some issues from my past it was okay I had time to figure things out.

10/28/2008- Today is my apt with the other Psychologist. He didn't see anything wrong with me getting the surgery so he told Dr. Turner to pass me !!!!!! Great thats outta the way now. Was getting kinda scared there lol... Same day was my exercise class. They just showed us how to stay fit and not try to be lazy and have extra skin. OMG i'm praying I won't have that xtra skin !!

10/29/2008- Today is the BIG day turning in the Paper work to TRICARE PRIME !!! OMG I am so nervous. I want this soooooo bad. They said there turn around is really fast !!! Not counting the weekend though. Just keep your fingers crossed !!!

11/05/2008- DENIED !!! OMG I thought my heart had stopped. I cried for a good 10 mins. It felt like my whole world around me went crashing down. My friend Tina was even there with me trying to support me. I love that girl !! She told me everything is gonna be alright and I"ll get this one way or the other !!

11/25/2008- Sent in the Appeal to Tricare. I had Dr. Angstadt write me a letter and my PCM. I too myself wrote a letter and sent in the receipts too !!! No it's a waiting game !!! They said they have 60 days to tell me if I am denied or approved !!! Here we go again Pray pray pray !!!

12/4/2008- OMG NO WAY They approved it !!! The lady from Tricare called me and said Mrs. Bennett your approved !! I asked her if she was kidding... She just laughed and said nope your approved !!! My surgery is going to be on 1/9/09... I start my liquid diet on Dec 26th. Kinda nervous about the liquid diet. Like in the past I have never be able to stick to anything. I just know I was this so bad I even stopped smoking !!! I am sad though my mom won't be able to make it out for the surgery. Any my husband has both the kids so he really won't be there either. I know I am not alone but it kinda feels like it. My friend Tina will have hers done a couple of days before mine so she will be in the hospital too !! Maybe they can put us in the same room ? lol... That would be awesome. Well everything is done now I am just waiting for the date and the apt date to get my blood work done !!!
