Surgeon Testimonial

Oliver Whipple
He is a nice guy, very professional, and you can tell he really cares about his patients. His office staff is great and they are always willing to answer any questions you have.Future patients should know that he is very busy,I only saw him once before my surgery. Also,he only see pateints on Thursdays for all pre and post-op appointment which may cause conflict for some people. He has a structured aftercare program with frequent post-op appointments and regualr attendance at their support group meetings. He has a great bedside manner and came to my hospital room frequently after surgery. Overall, I would rate him a 10 out of 10, he did a wonderful job on my RNY and I am so happy that he was the surgeon picked for me,he has won many awards in the surgery community and his bariactric clinic is a bariactric surgery center of excellence.

Got Approved, just trying to wait patiently on surgery...
on October 27, 2009 6:46 pm
I got my letter of approval on the 16th of this month, so I have been staring at my phone all day since I got the letter waiting for the bariactric clinic to call and give me a surgery date. I called yesterday and the receptionist checked on it for me, and told me my file was on the desk of the person who schedules the surgeries. I was supposed to get a call today but I waited all day and didn't get a call. So, tomorrow is another day and hope its the day I get a surgery date. I have been waiting 2 years and another baby for this. I have had bronchitis for 2 months now, I just finishes a round of antibiotics and it didn't work. I went back to my primary care yesterday and she gave me a steroid breathing treatment which made me feel a lot better instantly and made my numbers
on the peak flow meter go up dramatically. I did 3 breaths before the breathing treatment and 3 breaths after it was a big difference. Because of that difference she gave me a 6 day steroid treatment along with a steroid inhaler that lasts a week. In one day on this treatment I can feel a dramatic difference. I think I will be good for my surgery if they ever call me and give me a date. Now I just have to do whatever I can to stay well since the steroids weaken my immune system while I am taking them. I need a flu shot but I am not sure if I can get one while taking a steroid treatment because of the weakened immune system.

Just waiting
on October 4, 2009 10:45 am
I started my WLS journey in July of this year (2009). I have completed everything the surgeon's program requires. All I am waiting on before insurance submission is for the psychologist to fax my psych eval to the bariactric clinic. I had my psych eval Thursday 9-30 and she said she would fax her report when she finishes it to the bariactric clinic on Tuesday or Wednesday. I am just so anxious. My insurance is Tricare Prime and they have a pretty good track record for approving people with high BMI's. I know they do not go off of BMI but I am just stating an observation. I have plenty of help at home for when I am post-op, I just hope I can have my RNY before December when my husband deploys,he is my rock and I want him by my side when I go through this, but if he can't be here for it I will stay strong and do my best. Hope to have good news next blog post.
