6 months out and at goal..........

i had sugery on august 6th last year and today i weigh 125lbs and i am at goal. i am so happy. i was waiting for the last lb to come off for about a week and today it did. i am so happy. i want to thank everybody on this board. and also to Dr. L for giving me my life back. My best wishes are with everybody that is waiting for there approval.

5 months update

Today it's been 5 months since i had DS. i weigh 130lb now and 5lbs away from my first goal of 125lbs.but i want to get to 110lbs which Dr. L think is ok. i can eat more then few bites now. like i can finish one egg in one sitting. i am scared to see that i can eat more then 3 bites. my mind is saying i won't loss rest of the weight if i eat more then 3 bites. which i know it's not true but i am working on my self. Dr. L told me that i have to eat more. i am off all the medicne, i only take thyrode medicne. i take all my vitamin no problem at all. i feel great. my kids are so happy. my husband always compliment me. everytime i dress up my husband tell me he thinks i weigh 100lbs and look great. I just love my DS. my best wishes are with everybody who are waiting for their approval and i want to thank all of you for your help.
oh i forgot to say that i can wear size 5 pants and small to extra small top. i love shoping now.

Four months update.

i had DS on august 6th. it's been 4 months i am now 140lb and  lost 65lb since surgery and 85lb from my higest weight. i went to see Dr. L on nov. 21st for 3 months follow up and all my lab tests were good. Dr. L asked me how much i eat and i still eat few bites and i am statisfied and don't wanted to pust it. He said i have to eat more. so  now i am trying to eat little bit more at a time. i can drink 64oz. of water no problem. i haven't had tea or coffee or pop for 4 months. i don't take blood pressure medicine anymore and also i don't take hipertention medicine either. i have a new goal weight. i need to lose 30lb to be at my new goal. which Dr. L said is fine. i wear size 7-8 now.i am so glad i had this surgery. my new goal weight is 110lb.

Three months update

It's been 3 months today since i had DS. i weigh 153lb now, and only 28lb from goal. i don't take blood pressure medicne anymore, i just feel great. i will be going to see Dr. L on Nov. 21st. is anybody else going there on that day, i would love to meet you there. i have no issue with gas or bowl movement. i can eat anything i want but only few bites. i just love my DS. i want to say thank you to all of you.

Family doctor's visit

Hi everybody
Today I went to see my family doctor. I told him I am thinking about surgery to lose weight and what does he thinks about it? He said well you have to be really big and really sick in order to have the surgery. And then I told him I been doing a lot of research and i do qualify for the surgery but can't do anything without his help. I told him I am also member of OH group and I also attended the meetings as well and then I open the file that I took with me. I had all the paper about explaining DS/DBD, why i chose DS and difference between the RNY & DS. I took the OOC form and a template of OOC form so it would help him to fill the forms, I also made a chart of all the weight lose attempts I tried past 10 years and also wrote a cover letter. I told him I know you are busy so that’s why I wrote a letter on behalf or both of us and he was so happy that I did all my homework and he looked at the papers and asked me if I can leave all the paper with him and he will fill out the forms. I am so happy. Today is my birthday too and I got the best birthday present. 
I want to thank all of you for helping me and answering all the questions. i wouldn't done this without your help

My Story

I am 32 and been married for 12 years. i have two kids 9 and 6. i gained alot of weight after i had my kids. i have high blood pressure, highpertention and throde condition.

My BMI was 40 at the time i applied for DS. i had hard time getting approval and they send the letter to my family doctor saying that DS is only good for people with BMI of 50 or 60. My doctor sent letter and OHIP denied me for DS. I applied again with new letter from my doctor and also i wrote letter saying that i know people who were approved with similer BMI as mine. OHIP denied my again. i went to my MPP office and explain them everything but they couldn't help me as well. so i was fed up by then and i applied for RNY and got approval in two days for RNY. BUT deep down i knew thats not the surgery i want. so again i wanted to try for DS. i wrote an appeal letter and took it to my family doctor he signed it and i mail it to OHIP.I belive i sent it to two places one in toronto and one in winsdor. and a week latter i got call from julie saying that i got approved for DS. OH GOD i was so happy. it took me 4 months to get approval but it was so worth the wait. i had sugery on august 6th and i am only 35lb away from goal. i feel great. DS is the best. if this is the surgery you want, don't give up. OHIP will approve it at the end.
