Surgeon Testimonial

George Kerlakian, M.D.
I have been overweight most of my life, and started looking into bariatric surgery about 4 years ago. I have met with a total of 3 surgeons, and it wasn't until I met Dr. Kerlakian that I felt comfortable. The office staff as well as Dr. Kerlakian stresses the importance of aftercare and provides all the tools for you to get it started. Vicki, the nurse is especially nice and informative and tries to make you feel comfortable, even though the steps you are taking are life changing and a little scary. Tangela, who handles all the insurance stuff is well versed on the necessary steps to go to bat with your insurance company to get your surgery approved. They are all great, and I am so excited to start my new life with them to support me in my journey!

Exactly 5 days until my GBS. I am sooooooooo excited!! I went for my pre-surgery visit at the hospital today, and got all my info together there, so surgery day will be smooth sailing. I do have to say that I have been absolutely miserable for the last 9 days, my surgeon requires a pre surgery diet that is not exactly tasty, mostly liquid, with a few little extras that motivate you to keep it going, plus I had to quit smoking. I know, I know, It is in my best interest, but both at one time is slightly overwhelming! Step by step I'll make it, just alittle grouchy... My family is considering a hotel, until I am alittle happier!! Until later, Jenn

In exactly 7 days I go to have my gastric bypass done! Yeah, the day is a;most here!!!! I have been waiting sooooo long! I have taken all the necessary steps, and I finally have the day in sight. I can't possible express how excited I am, but at the same time, a little nervous! My doctor has been great in making me feel very secure with the entire surgery, but also very up front about the risks. That's always good when you are seeing a surgeon.

My Story

I have been heavy my entire life. I was teased in school about my weight for as long back as I can remember, and was always the fat girl, with the skinny friends. My weight tended to separate me from them in many ways. As I became older, I became more self confidant, and although my weight kept going up, I realized it was indeed your personality that attracted others to you. At 35, my weight has become a health issue. I have horrible joint pain, borderline diabetes, and high cholesterol. I decided after years of research to have gastric bypass done. I am scheduled for March 27, 2007. This will be the day I will change my life.
