Surgeon Testimonial

Subhashini Ayloo MD
So far I just had my first consult with her, she is AMAZING. She really knows her stuff and put me at ease regarding a terrifying experience. I feel confident in my decision not only of the surgery but of the surgeon.

So I found out yesterday that Dr. Ayloos office sent off to insurance for approval (hopefully).  It can take up to 30 days, but I'm hoping I'm one of those stories you hear, you know the ones "I was approved after only a week!"...but I probably won't be....with my luck it will probably be a few weeks after 30 days. LOL.  So I am sitting on pins and needles waiting to hear something from them.  They said chances are i will know before they will as the letter usually gets to the member first.  I swear to you now, should I recieve this letter I am going to be screaming and crying and praising Jesus!  4 long years that I have been trying to get this done...with no luck.  I don't know if I can take another rejection!  Well I will try to write more later, It's time for me to start doing my job!  I will keep you updated though.

P.S. - Incase you were wondering, I have an unhealthy obesession with Pink and Green!  I LOVE those colors!.

Well I have chosen my surgeon.  Dr. Ayloo out of Chicago .  I had my first consult with her on February 7th and I feel 100% positive I am doing the right thing.  I trust her completely.  The trip was eventful to say the least.  We arrived on the 6th and left on the 8th.  We managed to see the sears tower (only the 99th floor because there was maintence going on) and we went to the Hershey store which was cute.  The treats they had tasted like paint thinner though.  The person who does the baking can make it look pretty good, but taste is a whole other thing.  I mean, yuckie.  I will try to post some of the pics from our trip.  I go back on April 2nd assuming I get an approval from my insurance.  I am on pins and needles waiting.  I have been blocked so many times that I am just ready to proceed with this.  I have done the research I understand the risks.  Chicago is one heck of a haul though.  On the way back my husband and I were battling food poisoning.  He had it 10 times worse than I did, I managed not to get sick, but I also had to drive the entire way home.  He was seen at the ER is Morris IL and got some pills that seemed to help him make the rest of the trip home at least.  It was from a place in Chicago that is supposed to be FAMOUS for stuffed pizza.  BS.  I will give it that it was REALLY good going down...but I'm pretty sure it was the chicken wings that were really bad.  We all ate about the same amount of pizza, but Will had the most wings.  They tasted kinda funny looking back on it now.

Hopefully our next trip won't be so eventful and given that we know a bit more now hopefully we can plan a budget trip.  We probably spent upwards of 600 on that trip, and thats a LOT of money.  Now that I know the area I know that we can comfortably go 20 miles out from the hospital and still be fine.  Trusty GPS.  Although we did have an issue.  We have a Garmin Nuvi 350 I think isthe model, but it kept losing satellite because of the buildings I guess.  The one place I DO NOT want to get lost.  Well I gotta get back to work now, but I will update once I hear something back from insurance....hopefully soon :)  **crosses fingers**

Well as I'm sure you assumed, they denied the appeal.  Told me there was nothing to appeal and that it would do no good, they wouldn't even look at it.  So fine.  I'm still waiting.  Now we have changed insurances and I work for United Healthcare....Well my plan has a specific exclusion.  Wonderful huh?  Well luckily we have Illinois Medicaid as secondary and from what I hear they cover the surgery if you meet the qualifications.  Yes I do.  i mean, come on.  I just had a new baby on July 16th so I am more than ready for this.  I want to keep up with my kids.  My daughter will be 5 in Nov and I sometimes just sit around and think about what it would be like if I could go do things with her.  Take her to six flags, go to the park, go swiming....things I can't do now.  I can't even walk with her.  I hate taking her places and having to tell her "I can't do that I'm too big."  I know she loves me, but I know she gets frusterated because I can't ever do anything.  I want to be there for my kids.  My mom was never really there for me, always pushed me to the side....I want to be there for them.  I want to be an active mother, but unless something gives with my weight, its not going to happen.  So now I have an appointment with a doctor in decatur IL on Oct. 1st.  I just can't find any information on him as to whether or not he is a good surgeon.  I guess I will go and have the consult and see what my gut feeling is.  I'm hoping to get the RNY.  I would like to lose 210 lbs, but more importantly, I want to be able to move better.  I have such bad hip and knee pain its horrible.  I will keep you updated after my appt.

Well I sent in an appeal letter about 2 weeks ago and they are going to review it, but trust me, it took me almost a full week to get them to do it. my advice is just to immediatley ask for a supervisor, you get so much more done. through this company they do not allow you to appeal a denial of a pre service request, they just try to run it through as the same thing again. After fighting with them she said what she would do is take the original notes my doctor sent over and my appeal that they received and have a neutral 3rd party to review it...i don't expect much at all. My next doctors appointment is on oct 17...technically been on the diet a month then. I haven't lost a pound yet...that is not normal. what dont these people understand that this is my last chance. I really hate insurance. i wish i had the money to just pay for it out of my own pocket. I would even take out a loan if i had the ability to...but i dont. no credit. its a bitch. so anyway, i will keep you posted. dont expect much, im not.

Well I just got off the phone with my insurance company...they denied it! I am so depressed right now. They denied on the grounds that I do not have physician supervised diet and exercise. THEY WANT 6 MONTHS!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!? I can't stop crying. They will not take 6 months from the past either, it has to be 6 months up until now! This is the answer for me, this is the one thing that would enable me to live again. How do they expect me to exercise when I can't even walk right?? My joint pain is getting worse by the day, my marriage is suffering and I'm at my breaking point. I don't know what to do, I've hit a wall. The whole office is off until the 11th at my surgeons office. I'm all alone in this. The insurance company is rude! I HATE THEM! They have no compassion what-so-ever. Its just like "yeah, it was denied because we don't feel that you have done enough" HAVEN'T DONE ENOUGH?!??! I have been dieting since I was 12! I sent in a detailed diet sheet with what diet i was on, when i was on it, how much i lost, how much i gained back and the time period it took!!! I hate this....I've gotta go lay down now. I'll try to post again later if anything changes (which i doubt), if you have any suggestions, feel free to send them my way!
