Happy Valentine's Day!
on February 14, 2011 7:08 am
Yesterday was my 2 months Surgery anniversary! HOLY COW, can't believe its been that long already.  In a way, it doesn't seem like its been that long, and on the other hand... it does.. Today is my first day to start regular food again.  I'm so excited about that.  I brought a chicken sandwich for lunch today.  I did cut it in half in case its too much, so I can stop eating with just a half and that is ok with me.

I am also 1.5 lbs away from hitting the 50 lbs lost mark.  That makes me VERY HAPPY!!

I've resigned myself to the fact that I need to drink at least one myoplex a day, and that is ok.  An easy 20 grams of protein to get in.  It is just a staple on my grocery list like milk or eggs.

Last week my Mom asked me if I've moved into smaller clothes.  I really haven't, except after looking through my closet that I have actually gone down one size.  And that size is baggy.  I'm not worried about the size of my clothes right now as long as I have some clothes that do not look horrendous on me.

I do know that my blouses and tops are larger and baggier than they used to be.  Lucky for me that its still cold enough to wear sweaters that cling a little bit.  That way, they don't look quite as baggy.

Boot Camp tonight!! :)

Cold or Strep and the Superbowl
on February 7, 2011 1:29 pm
So I've been a complete slacker and not posting any blogs... so, here I am... trying to make up for that.

I had a dr. appt with my regular family practictioner today.  He was very happy to see the progress that I have made, and I was delighted to find out that my blood pressure was 100/80! Holy cow, is that low or WHAT??  At first I was a little alarmed, thinking something was wrong because the BP machine couldn't read it... TWICE... but the doctor assured me that the BP was a great BP, in fact, he said the word PERFECT.. so, I'm relieved.

I've not been feeling very well lately.  I caught a cold last week and that completely screwed up my working out routines.  So, I've been nursing myself back to health.  Luckily it was only a cold (YAY no STREP!) and even though its not completely gone, the Doctor said I sound like I'm already getting over it.  (I just love all this good news I'm getting!! ;)  )

I have been waking up with headaches lately, and that is most likely because since I've been sick, I haven't really been eating much, which includes protein, so I am just chalking up the headaches to that for now.  Although, I do wonder sometimes if the headaches are actually my body getting its protein from my brain, and I'm losing my short term memory! Yes, I have some weird medical thoughts sometimes. lol  But I do ponder just why I get headaches from not eating enough protein, when I didn't get them before the surgery.... must have something to do with the malabsorption... but if I didn't get enough, then why would it matter if I had malabsorption or not?  Definately something to ask the doctor about on my next visit.

The illness did have some good results too... I noticed I lost 5 lbs in the last week all because I wasn't eating a whole lot.  Not sure if that is a delayed reaction to the workouts from the week before, or if its really from being sick and not eating a whole lot.  In any case, I'll take the loss!! woohoo!!

Yesterday I felt pretty good, so I took Abbee (my dog) for a nice long walk, so at least I did get some exercise done.  And tonight, I'm hoping to start my Biggest Loser Boot Camp DVD from the beginning again.  A friend of mine in NY is starting it this week too, so I'm trying to be her motivation to do it... either way, I'm planning on it.... if by chance I start hacking up a lung again, then I will at least take Abbee for another long walk.

I can't wait for Spring, and I can't wait to break the 50 pound mark!!! woohoo!!

Oh yeah, also, I thought I was ALL THAT, and prepared myself some refried beans and some crackers... (because I'm still on soft foods) for dinner last night.  Thought it would be cool, just like a dip kind of thing to have during the Superbowl... Well, let me just tell you... it did not settle very good with me.  I didn't get sick, but boy did it feel like lead in my stomach.  Note to self, next time, don't eat half a cup of refried beans & crackers!  Eat less of them, and add something like some other type of protein!  One that isn't quite as FIBEROUS!
