Welcome to ONE-Derland!!!! posted on 6/20/11 8:13 am
I just keep singing "Welcome to ONE-derland (to the tune of Hello to Hollywood!) hahahaha... seriously, I'm loving the fact that I've moved into the 100s. I haven't been in the 100s in over 10 years... and out of the 190s even longer ago than that! Highschool, maybe? In any case, I'm in One-derland! Can I get a woot woot! :) hehehe
On a more serious note, my labs came back from my 6 month follow up and my CRP is high. I googled that, and found it its my C Reactive Protein is high, so I need to call my regular practitioner and make an appointment. I'll share more on that in coming days, after I hear what the doctor has to say. It may be a bit serious, but not 100% sure.
After reading the comments from my last blog, I took a few moments to really think and acknowledge what I've done... I've lost 83 pounds in six months. WOW, that's a big deal. I mean, I felt like it was a big deal, but I was too busy glowing in the happiness of my new smaller self. 83 pounds... that could be a Justin Beiber fan, or a sixth grader... wow. I can't believe I've come so far so quickly. It really is an awesome experience.
I also broke down and finally bought some whey protein isolate powder... A whopping 30 grams of protein per one scoop of the powder... That is also great news, as I have been having issues with getting enough protein. I've also been working on getting enough water too. My best (and easiest) way of getting water in, is chewing on crushed ice. I don't know why, but it just works for me... maybe its because I get smaller servings of water and it takes me a while to chew the ice, so I don't get all full and make myself sick. Yeah, that's my story and I'm sticking with it! LOL It wasn't like I didn't drink protein shakes, I just bought Myoplex.. well, that can get a little expensive, so I finally broke down and bought the powder.. so far its working well, and I like not having to buy Myoplex Lite every four days.
Eat healthy, exercise lots and talk to you soon!

Congratulations!! Celebrate with a manicure or pedicure or BOTH!!
Woot Woot! So happy for you! I am skirting to close to One-Derland myself now, 8 pounds away, and I just can't wait to see what it looks like on the scale. I still have a long ways to go after that, but that is a big hurdle. Doesn't it feel great! How does your new protein taste? Mine is delicious, but has 22g per scoop, and I usually just have 1 scoop a day. I'll have to add up my other protein sources and see what my total comes to.
Hope everything works out for you with that C Reactive Protein result.
Congratulat ions on One-Derland!!!!!!!!! !!!
congratulations!!!! I will be sooo happy when I can sing that tune. I haven't been in onderland in 17 yrs. I'm 50lbs away and I'm three months post op. I lost 65 lbs in that time and went from 324 - 265. I had to celebrate being in the 2's and was estatic about that, so I can't imagine what I will feel like to hit the 1's. That doesn't exist to me, in my world..but that is just my mental state talking because it seems like it's impossible. i can't wait. keep it up and hopefully everything is okay with your labs.
Im new on here and had my surgery 3-2-11. I am down 75lbs but having a lot of trouble getting my proteins in and a lot of hair loss. I know that hair loss is expected but mine started very soon after the surgery and I am getting worried. :( But on the bright side, 75 lbs down!! You mentioned a whey protein isolate powder, where are you getting it and how is the taste? I tried an egg protein drink and could not keep it down.
HI All, Keep up the great work everyone. I really believe that being positive helps too. For those asking about the whey protein I bought, I just got it at Walmart. It was a big plastic jar of it for about 22 bucks. It is by Body Fortress and it is Whey Isolate. I think that is why it has the higher amount of protein. One scoop is 30 grams. I bought the vanilla creme and its ok. I usually mix it with a bunch of ice so it ends up being more like a milkshake or smoothie. Also, don't be afraid to try using some of the flavor extracts. Like using an orange extract with vanilla and it will taste like a creamsicle.. I always like adding almond to vanilla too. When I first thought about protein shakes I hated the idea of them, but I'm so used to them now that I look forward to them, and if I can make them taste uber-yummy, then I think of them as a treat.
I only bought Isopure once. It was grape flavor and I bought it for the time after surgery when I had to drink clear liquids. Not sure why I didn't stick with it, but it is sort of expensive. I'm glad I finally gave up the myoplex and moved on to the powdered protein.. its saving me more money!
Helen, do all you can to get your protein. If your not getting enough that is probably why you are having your hair loss. I've lost some, but not alot. When it comes to eating, I go for protein first, then fill in with the veggies and fruit. I don't eat many breads, pastas or rice. As much as I like then, they don't agree with my that much anymore.. plus, I hate to waste a time to eat on things that don't give me my protein.
Keep up the great work everyone and thanks for the comments!!
