I was an athlete in my younger days and have several lingering pains to show for it. These knee, back and shoulder injuries keep me from doing much exercise.
I worked my way through college as a fitness trainer and nationally certified strength trainer. Even then I started adding on more weight because my knees kept me from doing as much cardio as I needed to.
After graduating from college and getting a job in sales I hit the road and started putting on the weight. Eating on the run (fast food) and usually only 2 meals a day plus all the snacks at night wasn't a good formula for anyone, much less someone who was trained to know better. Years past and the weight kept creeping up. every pound added more pain to my knee and back.
Today I'm 44 years old. I'm married and have 2 boys (15 & 10). I haven't been able to do a lot of the things with them that I would like to because of my weight. That is a big part of my motivation in taking the step of having surgery, along with my over all health and happiness.
I'm only 5'7" and my weight climbed up to 298 lbs as of April 1st of this year. I couldn't tie my own shoes without holding my breath. My knees couldn't get me back up if I squatted down to pick something up. I couldn't walk up the stairs from the basement without getting winded. I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF THIS!!!!
On April 2nd I started my pre-op diet and had RNY surgery on April 16th. Today I'm down to 256 lbs!! A total of 42 lbs lost!! I'm feeling much better even though I have a long way to go. I remember being this size and at that time it felt really big. After being 298 this (256) feels much better than before.
I don't remember what its like to be lower than 240 lbs. At that point it will all be a new life and I can't wait!!
I'm Blessed to have the life I have and I'm Blessed to have had this life changing surgery!!
