Surgeon Testimonial

Gerald Kirshenbaum
Dr Kirshenbaum performs lap-band only bariatric surgury. primarily cash-only patients. I came to him for the price (under 10k), but this does not lack in quality. He put me on a low-carb diet. Make sure you follow it! he explained what he was going to do to in surgury to prevent lap slippage and his program is awesome! He seems good at explaining what is going to happen and the surgury went without a hitch. see www.lapbandrockies.com for his website. His aftercare has been great. He is good at getting you at the right place on fills and he has a great staff.rn

GO ROCKIES!!! 10/26/07 314 lbs
on October 26, 2007 12:14 pm
Ok....Ok...the Sox won the first two games but now we are back at home for game 3 of the series...the rockies will come back   My friend invited me to game 5...they are box seats and cost $250 apiece, whew!   But scalped tickets are in the thousands!!
Im doing good..my 2nd fill has made me watch more of what i eat...the band is tight in the morning and if i dont slow down eating i will have a problem.  there as been a couple of times where i EAT TOO FAST and dont chew my food well enough...so i end up sliming and PB'ing...  Not a good site!  I eat mostly protien, a little fruit, a little veggies.  I basically eliminated bread, pasta and rice...sometimes i have a tortilla if i eat it real slow...I no longer have any carbonated soft drinks (used to have 4 diet mountain dews a day!)  I do very very few sweets...i sometimes have a hershey kiss or piece of hard candy to fufill that sweet tooth.   My biggest VICE right now is i HAVE to have my beer or two a week...i know its not good cuz of carbination, but we are not perfect...cheers.I should switch to wine, but i have always been a beer man..My 2nd biggest issue is I NEED TO EXERCISE on a REGULAR BASIS. i do some but not consistently
I am loosing weight pretty fast...i hear other people on this website that are much slower loosers than i am...I feel sorry for them but i understand.  Everybody is different.  I know some of them even try harder than i do. Im loosing 4.2 pounds per week on average. WOW!!!! give myself a hand!  I understand this weight loss pace will taper off. but hope to at least loose 2lbs a week minimum. Ok..thats it....i will c u Nov 16th for my 3rd fill!!!

10/12/07 - 2nd fill 317 lbs
on October 12, 2007 9:36 am
Got my 2nd fill this morning...  it was earlier than i was planning cuz the dr is going to go on vacation and i didnt want to wait until he was back without a huge amount of restriction.  i got 1.6 cc's more giving me 6.6 cc's in a 14 cc band.   I had a leftover chicken breast from KFC that i ate for lunch, and I definitely felt the restriction.   I think i ate it a bit too fast and started sliming and hiccuping and i swear i was going to throw up but didnt .  Ive still have to learn to SLOW DOWN on my food.  I still have that inhale mentality and now i have a childs stomach. I mainly avoid bread, pasta, rice and concentrate on protien.  i have some fruits and veggies.  I've lost 43 lbs so far and my doctor is pleased with the progress!!!!     43 lbs is about 12% of my original body weight..  im doing even better than i thought i would!!

Post vacation 10/5/07 324 lbs
on October 5, 2007 10:23 am

I recently went on an 8 night vacation to New England to see the fall folliage!   I went to maine, NH, VT, mass,,conn, ri.   saw LOTS of covered bridges, museums, lighthouses, changing leaves, etc...it was fun!
I also ate lots of different foods.....shrimp,lobster, haddock, shark, clams, scallops....being from Denver CO, i could not get enough seafood!  yummy.....but of course my new stomach said...NO you cant engorge your self with seafood .   so i learned to work with my new first fill and learned when i get lots of burbs or hiccups,  its time to STOP.     But i still got enough of that fresh, juicy lobster i shared to feel satisfied.  Yeah!.   I did have some times i had problems...morning seems like im more restricted...and once  i threw up and once i had what i think is called a PB (productive burp).   I need to learn to slow down a be more attune to when to STOP.   i also walked quite a bit on vaca...i think this helped with my weight loss
So anyway...i usually go on a vacation and GAIN 10 lbs......well this time i LOST 5 lbs in 11 days!!!!  how exciting!!

Cheap date:
Ive heard from posts before that people that are banded are "cheap dates" meaning that they are lightweights with alcohol...   I really didnt think i would change that much....boy i was wrong!
I had my first fill on 9/24  and went on vacation to New England to see the fall folliage.   I shared a bottle of wine with a friend and had two glasses of wine.
Oh my gosh!  i was buzzed on the first glass and laughing my head of on the 2nd!!! It used to take me at least 3 beers to get a buzz and about 6 or 7+ to get me feeling what i was with that wine!  Thats cool....i dont mind being a "cheap date"!!
