Surgeon Testimonial

L. Michael Howell M.D.
Dr. Howell did my open RNY as well as my husband's and I think he is great! He is a straight shooter with info and uses common sense.

He puts the silastic ring around the opening of your new pouch to try and prevent future stretching which was something I wanted.

In our area I think he is the best and would highly recommend him to anyone!

My Story

Hi: I'm 46, struggled all my life with weight except for a brief span in my 20's when my mom's Dr. gave me some butt kicking diet pills.  Of course once I quit taking the pills, the weight came back on.

My husband was skinny when I met him but our fast food lifestyle got to him and he got up to 304.  He had rny in June 2006 and is now down to 152.

I am hoping to have surgery with the same Dr. From what I have heard and seen, he is one of the best.  I have done everything that is required by my insurance but the surgeon won't send the info to insurance till after the consult.  Had the consult. Got Approved, yay.  June 26th is the day.  My surgeon's office did all the papework and it was approved on the first try. what a relief.

Had the surgery, yay

other average weight loss %'s i've seen posted:

excess body weight percentage of loss goals:

2 months 25%
6 months 50%
1 yr          80%

my doctor has never said anything about goals to me, he just wants me to live right, eat right, and exercise. But I get obsessed with the numbers like everyone else.

If my goal weight is 135 (don't really have a goal weight), then my excess body weight was 142 lbs.

25% of that is:  35.5
50% of that:      71
80%  is:           113.6

i made the 2 month and 6 month marks and JUST MIGHT make the 1 year 80% mark too. i know this is not a competition, and a steady loss is better than no loss, but I am really impatient.
