Sleepy
on March 30, 2007 5:22 pm

Since I got the surgery date earlier this week, I've had trouble sleeping.  Must be the excitement.  I find myself tossing and turning - and also having some very vivid, detailed dreams.  By the time morning rolls around - I am exhausted!!  This isn't really helpful for trying to find energy to walk.
I had my pre-surgery visit with Shareen at Park Nicollet today.  Was helpful to go through the book and more carefull learn what gets incorporated at each state of eating post-surgery.

Met with Dr. Svendsen today
on March 28, 2007 10:47 am

My husband and I met with Dr Svendsen and nurse, Barb Johnson today.  They were both as fantastic as we had heard.  Barb is a nut - which is really what I need at this point.  I've been approaching this with all kinds of seriousness and trying to be studious about it all.... it was great to just laugh at some of it - I didn't realize how much I needed that release.  Dr. Svendsen - super nice, probably the most easy to talk with dr I've ever met.  I feel like I'm going to be in great hands.
I am finally allowing myself to become happy and excited!

Spring has Sprung
on March 25, 2007 10:41 am
Had first barbeque of the season last night - - what a nice evening for sitting on the deck.  Am getting very excited and nervous about the upcoming meeting with surgeon and hopefully getting surgery date.  I want to be sure to do everything right - and make the most of this 'last chance' to get on track for a healthier me.

Getting Closer
on March 22, 2007 11:25 am
Less than a week until my meeting with Dr. Svendsen.  Looks like those who have had recent meetings with him are having surgeries scheduled about a month out - so hoping it will be similar timeline for me.
Trying to make changes to get ready. Eliminating sugared pop, drinking more water, started walking (yeah!) and following some of the nutritionists advise (need to get better here though)

Got results of my heart stress tests and all was normal... and had gall bladder ultrasound today.  I think I'm just about done being a guinea pig for a while now!!  I have to say, Park Nicollet does a fantastic job of scheduling and keeping the process moving along.

Journal - First Entry, 3-9-07
on March 9, 2007 2:57 pm

Here I am - the beginning steps of this journey.  A bit like being a child again - a lot to learn, challenges, successes and growth.  Hopefully finding guidance along the way.

Yesterday I heard that my insurance carrier has approved the surgery.  I'll be meeting with the surgeon, Dr. Charles Svendsen on March 28th.  And yes, I do wish it were to be sooner.

My insurance was approved in jsut a couple of days from it being filed.  It either means my insurance carrier is fantastic (Medica) - - or perhaps they feel there's no time to lose in getting me help!
