201 POUNDS GONE!
on January 12, 2010 6:29 am

I am almost 17 months out from my DS and have lost 201 pounds.  Still healing up from the panni removal that was 4 weeks ago.

Belly button gone, along with 10 inches!
on January 4, 2010 6:10 pm
It has been 20 days since the panniculectomy, and I am doing pretty good.  The test showed no hernia, so only the lower section was done.  She did tighten the muscles under there, and I do feel that!  She cut me all the way on each side as far as she could reach without flipping me over.  I spent 3 nights in the hospital.  I had a drain in each side and a bizillion stitches...which I am not looking forward to having plucked out on friday!  But I will be glad to get them and this last drain out so I can get dressed in something other than a robe. Its just easier in a robe with the binder, and something to pin the drain to.
My balance seems way off now that I don't have that huge thing to contend with.  Oh yea, it was 20 pounds of blob!  And I lost 10 inches off my hips!  And as of this morning at 172 I am 2 pounds away from loosing 200 pounds.  Still blows my mind.  I am so happy to have had this surgery, but I can see the thighs now, and they ain't pretty...ugh (shiver).

Loosing my belly button
on December 13, 2009 4:39 pm
I hate blogging.  My mind is so scattered I can't even think. I am very pleased and proud of my progress.  Today is my 16th month.  I weighed in at 182 this morning.  I have lost 188 pounds!  Wow.  I was going to be happy to make it to weighing 200, but to be under and still loosing is great.
I saw 2 plastic surgeons in November, and picked the one I wanted.  Mostly because she would submit for insurance and the other guy would not even consider it.  I am having this huge apron whacked on tuesday,  dec 15, 2009.  I was denied 2 weeks after submitting.  Dr. Eslami CALLED the insurance company, told them how I have custody of 3 and 5 year old boys and I really need this off so I can properly care for them and be in their lives.  They said Drs don't call us, they submit papers.  She said this dr makes phone calls!  She said they were at a loss for what to think so they reversed the answer immediately!
That was all this past thursday.  My insurance will change the first of the year, so the surgery has to be this month.  The only day she has open is tuesday.    Sooo much to do and sooo little time.  Taking care of the boys and now my mom, who spent 2wks in macu and is now in a nursing home near me for rehab.  I had her brought up here so I could take care of her, and now I will be laid up.  No stress here!
I will find out tomorrow if there is a hernia in the upper portion of my abdomen.  If so, I will have the full tummy tuck.  If not, then just the panniculectomy.  But I will be so happy not to have this huge thing to lug around.   Because of the position of my belly button, it will more than likley be lost in the surgery.  Won't be able to tell if I am coming or going...may have to get a tatoo of one!  Both surgeons estimated this thing to be about 30 pounds.  OMG  that will put me at my personal goal of 150 pounds.

6 months and all is well...
on February 21, 2009 8:21 pm
LAST WEEK I STARTED MY 6TH MONTH AND I AM HAPPY TO REPORT THINGS ARE GOING GREAT.  IT IS STILL A  "JOB" TO GET IN THE FLUIDS, VITAMINS AND PROTEIN, BUT I MANAGE ALOT BETTER NOW DAYS.  I DO HAVE DAYS THAT I JUST DON'T WANT TO EAT, BUT I MAKE MYSELF DO IT.  NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD BE SAYING THAT!  STILL EATING STEAK, HAMBURGER RECIPES, AND PORK.  I HAVE HAD CHICKEN OUT 2 TIMES IN THE PAST 2 WEEKS AND IT STAYED DOWN, BUT I AM JUST NOT READY TO MAKE CHICKEN DISHES JUST YET.  I DO HAVE A RECIPE I WANT TO TRY, SO MAYBE SOON.
I HAD MY LABS DONE AGAIN TO CHECK MY IRON AND IT WAS DOWN MORE.  I HAD BEEN GETTING SO TIRED BY 6PM THAT I WOULD JUST WANT TO LAY MY HEAD DOWN ON THE TABLE AT SUPPER INSTEAD OF EAT.  I WAS ONLY TAKING 1 OF MY 2 IRON PILLS, BUT NOW I AM TAKING THEM BOTH AND I CAN ALREADY FEEL A DIFFERENCE...NO LONGER WANTING TO SLEEP THROUGH SUPPER.
LAST WEEK I HAD 2 PEOPLE I KNOW WELL NOT RECOGNIZE ME, AND IT MADE ME LAUGH AND FEEL GREAT.  THE FIRST WAS MY BEST FRIEND'S DAD.  HE PASSED BY ME AT THE STORE, I SAID HI, HE SMILED, SAID HI, AND KEPT WALKING, THEN ALMOST FELL OVER HIS OWN FEET LOOKING BACK AT ME LIKE I LOOKED FAMILIAR, BUT HE WASN'T QUITE SURE.  I HAD MY 2YR OLD GRANDSON WITH ME, AND HE DIDN'T KNOW WE HAVE CUSTODY OF THIS ONE, SO HE THOUGHT IT COULDN'T HAVE BEEN ME BECAUSE I WOULDN'T HAVE SUCH A YOUNG ONE.  HE HADN'T SEEN ME IN 4 MONTHS.  WHEN MY FRIEND CALLED HIM TO ASK IF HE RAN INTO ANYONE AT THE STORE THAT DAY, HE LAUGHED AND SAID I THINK IT WAS JUDY, BUT I'M NOT SURE!  THEN ANOTHER FRIEND OF MINE IS A MANAGER AT A LOCAL GROCERY.  I HAVEN'T SEEN HER AND SHE DIDN'T KNOW I HAD THE SURGERY. SHE PASSED BY AND I SAID HEY HOW ARE YOU, AND SHE SMILED AND SAID THE USUAL, FINE HOW ARE YOU, LIKE SHE WAS BEING POLITE TO A CUSTOMER, AND WALKED ON BY.  I SAID HER NAME AND SHE JUMPED AND SCREAMED, OH MY GOD, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE, I DIDN'T KNOW  YOU!   I GUESS 120 POUNDS GONE WILL DO THAT FOR YA!

My winter coat...
on February 3, 2009 6:14 pm

I have been a hot-blooded girl for as long as I can remember.  I would always wear a light weight jacket or sweater along with a scarf and gloves when it would be really cold. I never could find  a coat to fit anyway.  Well about 5 years ago I saw this coat I really liked.  It was the new (at the time) fabric- microfiber.  It was a 3x that wouldn't zip, but I bought it, telling myself I just needed to loose a pound or two and I would be fine.  No, it never happened.  Now that I have lost some of my "insulation" I really feel the cold.  I have to take the 4yr. old out for the bus every morning.  So I got this coat out of the box back in December and IT ZIPPED!  One day in January we were running a little behind so I put my coat on, no time to zip it...now it even OVERLAPS!!!  yeah!

My Story

My name is Judy, but I am looking forward to the day when people look at me and say, " My goodness, she's so tiny, she's just a whisper !"  Yes, like many of the others, I have been fat my entire life. I want to be healthy and have energy and to enjoy life.  I am the one left at home while the rest of the family goes to the lake, the fair, the park, the mall.......  I don't want to be left home anymore!!  My husband and I have custody of our 2 and 4 year old grandsons, and boy are they full of energy!  I love them and want to be around for many more years for them.
