Surgeon Testimonial

John W. Baker M.D.
I attended my first seminar this week, and everything is so interesting. I am looking forward to my surgery. Dr. Baker seems really supportive of his patients.rnMy sister is my initial supporter, and she also is going to have the surgery. rnI hope to find the answers to some of the questions I have on this site. (questions to be posted when I have them all in order)rnI will post more as I move along with my progress, and office visits, and get answers to more questions I have for him and the staff.

What got me to the point of having WLS?
*Emotional eating
*Eating when bored (I have alot of time on my hands)
*Eating when depressed (diagnosed with depression)
*Eating when stressed (sometimes the happy pills just dont work)
*Hiding snacks in my room to eat throughout the night
*Eating my main meal after 7pm every night. Which consisted of some wonderful greasy fried meat with all the yummy trimmings. (I eat by 5pm now, and not often any fried foods)
*Watching a movie while munching out on a bag of powdered doughnuts and a pack of mini Baby Ruth bars
*6 pack or more of diet Dr. Pepper or more a day
*Eating too fast and not chewing properly
*Becoming inactive

I have not had my surgery yet, but I have made alot of changes in my eating habits, and what as well as when I eat.
I went cold turkey on the diet Dr. Peppers! (very hard but I did it) I now drink very few clear non caffinated sodas, a 6 pack last me 2 weeks. I drink mostly flavored water all day.
My only caffine is my morning coffee, and I am sure I will not change to decaf... YUKK!
I am working really hard on the head issues now so it wont be so bad after surgery. And I hope it works, if not I have Therapist on speed dial, and OH to come to.
