Surgeon TestimonialJohn W. Baker M.D.I attended my first seminar this week, and everything is so interesting. I am looking forward to my surgery. Dr. Baker seems really supportive of his patients.rnMy sister is my initial supporter, and she also is going to have the surgery. rnI hope to find the answers to some of the questions I have on this site. (questions to be posted when I have them all in order)rnI will post more as I move along with my progress, and office visits, and get answers to more questions I have for him and the staff.

Hi, I am Linda, aka Just Meee. I am 45 years old, and I have been obese for as long as I can remember. Kids at school called me "Bertha", but I never let it bother me. I just joked like the other kids did. It didnt stop it, but made it easier to deal with.
About 3 years ago my health started limiting what I could do, and when I could do it.
I have always loved working outside, keeping the yard pretty with flowers n such. But my knees started giving out on me, my asthma got worse, and vertigo came along. So the yardwork came to a halt for me.
I have 1 daughter and 5 grandchildren, and with WLS, I look forward to being able to run and play with my grandchildren.
The final decision is yours on October 1, 2009 7:49 am
I joined OH to find out all I possibly could about WLS...
I have read, researched, and asked questions. I found out all I need is right here at my fingertips. From answers to any kind of question, to the wonderful friends I have met here.
I so enjoy this site, and I love my Buddies, and the support they give. It is from the heart.
There are pros and cons to any kind of surgery, and the risks of being obese are of more magnitude than the risk of WLS. With the advanced technology of today, the pros outweigh the cons for WLS, unlike years ago when WLS first came about.
WLS is not a fad. It is forever... And is not to be taken lightly. It is a whole lifetime of change and commitment, with new rules to everyday life.
Should you have a question, or need help with anything, all you need do is post it on the boards, and you will recieve answers and opinions from a variety of people who have had the same things to deal with as yourself. From real people who have experienced what you are going thru.
I am very excited to be able to take this step towards a new life. And if anyone reading this blog has any questions, just ask... Because I know the answer can be found.
If you are undecided as of yet, do some reading on the boards, ask any questions you may have.
But the most important question you can ask, is if YOU can commit to change like the many people on OH have done.
That is exactly what I did, and my answer is Yes! And I am more than ready to take this step to a new life and a healthier Meee.

My PCP suxx!!! on September 17, 2009 9:18 am
I am becoming more pissed at my PCP and his staff everytime I have to round up another test result.
His staff has not cared one iota about keeping up with mine or my sisters medicare requirements tests, muchless the results of all the tests we did at their office, and asked the PCP to referr us for.
This is not right!!! WTF is up with this???
Needless to say that after our surgeries are scheduled and overwith, (hopefully soon) we will be finding another PCP. One that might actually care about the patient instead of money for everytime we visit.
I have called them countless times since the surgeons office contacted me about my test results not being faxed in, and they ask what tests? Well we left a copy for each of our charts of the tests we needed to have for medicare to approve our bypasses. They cant even find these simple papers for either one of us!
WHAT TIME IS IT? DUHHH!
SOMEBODY KICK ME PLEASE... (preferably in the head)
I can only imagine that since Dr. Bakers nurse is calling me wanting these results, it is getting closer for date scheduling.
Yes this is a major stress factor, and no I am not smoking more that 4 a day. I light one take a couple puffs and put it out. I do this with all 4 everyday. It is just old habits die hard I guess. Gotta have that light em and let em burn thing going on. I am using the patch too, but mostly is the letting them burn a minute then put em out thingy going on here. I only take actually about a puff everytime I light up. I know I can stop this too. I tried straws... they melt!

The Four Mantras of Life Post WLS: on August 22, 2009 5:38 am

1. Sip, sip, sip. Need your fluids.
2. Walk, walk, walk. Exercise and prevent blood clots.
3. Any problems - CALL YOUR DOCTOR!! 'nuff said.
4. Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart! You may find yourself experiencing a "laundry emergency"!
I borrowed this from someones signature...

Prayer for all of you, and myself. on August 16, 2009 7:28 am
Lord, give us the strength to conquer our minds,
And accept the new path in life you have pointed us in.
Help us to accomplish the challenges you have set before us,
so that we may become healthier and happier people.
I ask this of You for myself and all others
on this road with me...
Amen

Morning cigarette on August 15, 2009 5:45 am
I am not, repeat not having a smoke with my first cup of coffee this morning. I think I want one but I keep telling myself no.
As you know I am on chantix and was down to 4 a day, next thing is, things started happening with my daughter (Will tell yall about her sometimes) and I went back up to 8 then a pack day before yesterday. Yesterday I did good, and only smoked 9. Yayy me!
So today I am not having first cigarette for the day, It has been on with my brain lol, I have been up thirty-five minutes and havent lit up. And it is usually first thing I pick up. I have been waiting for certain lengths of time between ciggys to test myself, and get back to four a day without the morning ciggy so it will be easier for me to quit. I have to conquer my mind, and I am trying hard.
So lets all have some yogurt, and excercise ten minutes outside, mosquitoes allowing, oh crap! I cant set up my cloud yet, mom has to move her car first, and she is still sleeping, not getting up til 9 this morning. She only has to work a few hours today. Guess I will ride my little bicycle pedal thingy in the house while I do some reading on OH!
Have a wonderful day yall!

My Story I have been obese all my life that I can remember. Just a few months ago I decided it was time to do something other than diet.So I decided on RNY surgery. Things are going pretty quick too, in just 3 months I have undergone all the required test, as well as the psych eval. I am really excited about this. And thanks to all the wonderful people on OH, I have learned that I will never 'diet' again, for this time, it is a lifestyle change. I now look at a diet as a temporary fix, and I am gearing up for a permanant change. I am here now prepairing my mind for these changes, and have begun integrating more healthy foods into the cabinets and frige. I have learned thru my friends here to read labels more carefully, and now know what to look for when purchasing foods and vitamins. And I would like to thank all my family and friends at home, and my friends here for putting up with my goofey a**! I love you all... The more you get to know me the goofier I get, so I apologize early for anything I may say that offends anyone. For it is not on purpose.
