Surgeon Testimonial

John Gonzalez
-My first impression of Dr. J as I call him was \"Wow, he's young? How much experience does he have?\"rn-Now, I am so blessed that I chose him as my surgeon. He's simply the best around and I love him dearly for giving me my life back!rn-His staff at Innova Hospital are fantastic. They are a small office so everyone knows you and is very friendly. You get treated with one on one attention and never feel like a number or a nuisance.rn-If you are thinking of going with Innova and Dr. J know that he is going to work you. He only does surgery if he feels your committed to the lifelong changes you will have to endure. He is hard core and will not tolerate crap. But if you're doing what you're supposed to...he's your #1 fan! Plus, he's absolutely hilarious!rn-There is a very structured aftercare program in place with Innova including support groups.rn-Dr. J wouldn't even operate on me until I brought my weight down some. He was concerned about the size of my liver. He made sure and put me on a strict diet to decrease the size of my liver and thanks to that, my surgery went off smoothly and successfully.rn-If I had to chose Dr. J again, I would do it in a heartbeat. I would recommend him to anyone seriously committed to changing their life for the better. rn-I think both his surgical competence and bedside manner are outstanding and he comes very highly recommended! Thanks Dr. J

WOW Moment of the Week!
on January 11, 2007 1:34 pm
So after being cooped up at home for 3 weeks I decided it was time to start living again.  I woke up this morning.  Had my vitamins and protein shake, got all dolled up (in jeans that no longer fit me!) and went to school to see my students.  It was awesome to see them again.  Those little rascals really have my heart.  So after catching up and hearing all these wonderfully uplifting compliments from my coworkers I decided to treat myself to some new clothes before I go back to work next week.  I went to the Avenue, my favorite big girl store!  The whole store was on sale and I was in heaven!  I had been going through shopping withdrawals!  I found the nicest pair of navy/white pinstripe capris and fell in love.  They only had 32, 30, 28, 24, and 18.  I wanted them, but was afraid of what size to get.  I've been size 32 so long that I just couldn't bear to think I was still in that size.  Well, something told me "Grab the 24!"  I went to the dressing room and guess what, THEY FIT!!! YEah!  I went from a 32 to a 24.  It is truly the most amazing feeling.  I ended up buying 4 more size 24 pants and even one size 22!  My shirts still need room for the sistas so I bought a 26/28, though 22/24 fit.  I just had to share.  Sorry it's so long!  Here's to more shopping excursions!

My First "Mile"stone!
on January 7, 2007 7:48 pm
So I am 2 weeks post op and today I did something that I have NEVER done before. I energetically walked 1 mile without getting completely winded or quitting for that matter! WOW! What an amazing feeling it was. I actually could have kept going, but I got to my destination. To think that 2 weeks ago I could not have done this. I'm so excited. Next stop, 2 Miles! YEA ME! Here's to all our "Mile"stones!

Week 2
on January 2, 2007 2:16 pm
Happy New Year!  Happy New ME!  So here I am 2 weeks out and feeling great.  So far since November I've lost a total of 61 pounds (27 pounds post op).  I had a minor slip up on Saturday, but I'm back on track.  The only problem I seem to be having is getting in all of my protein and water.  I just get so full.  I keep walking everyday and keeping a positive attitude helps.  My Demondy is so great to me!  He went back to work this week so I miss his company, but life has to move forward.  It was great having him at home.  Now it's up to me to stay on top of my medicines.  I am just spoiled!  Well I just wanted to update everyone on my progress.  It's a journey with ups and downs, but well worth the trip!  Wishing you all a very wonderful 2007 full of lost pounds!  Here's to a happier, healthier all of us!
