My Story

Although I always felt "fat" as a teenager, I look at pictures in my size 6 and wonder what was I thinking?  Body image issues I guess.  I was short and muscular and I guess I always wanted that willowy look.  So much for that.

I gained weight gradually, then took a turn towards ridiculously skinny in the later part of college.  That was the last time I saw skinny.  From there weight gradually crept upward until I hit the height of stress in my career when at 5'2" I grew to 150 lbs.  I got married, had kiddos and weight crept from there.  My brand new house fell apart (foundation issues) and my husband was laid off after 9/11 and I went through a 3 year battle of stress and depression.  I returned to work full time and the weight just kept coming.  I didn't yoyo diet.  I didn't really have the strength to diet at all.  Just kept gaining.  The turning point for me was when I couldn't get life insurance.  No one would issue it at any cost due to my weight.  I am the primary bread winner for my family and I couldn't provide insurance for my kids.  That's when I hit my boiling point.

I had a VGS performed one week ago by one of the top doctors in the US.  The operation went without a hitch and I'm on my way.  Since my first Dr.'s visit, I'm down 22 lbs.  YEAH!  That's my story.....
