Armando Joya Dr. Joya gave me complete confidence that he knew exactly what he was doing. Everything went fine for me, which I believe had something to do with following his directions exactly and my age. I would recommend him for people considering WLS surgery without hesitation. His staff is also wonderful. My best advice is to bring someone with you to Mexico to advocate for you in the early post-op period. The nurses don't always understand what you are saying and you are too exhausted to repeat yourself.
I am finishing up nursing school and I graduate July 25, 2008 with a BSN. I have had diabetes for the last two years and the stress of school is making it worse. I am taking care of people in the hospital with heart disease and diabetes and I know where my life is headed. I don't want that life! After as much research as I could get my hands on, I decided on the VSG and will have the operation May 6, 2008. Now that I've made the decision, I can't wait!
UPDATE:
August 1, 2008, I have now graduated nursing school! I got a phone call about a job as I was graduating and secured the job a few days later. I am now enjoying some time off and I'm enjoying being in ONEDERland!!! I could sing! I'm down three sizes and dropping. The diabetes is gone and I am feeling great. Thank God for VSG!
