My Story
My weight issues go all the way back to my childhood. It probably started around age 8 or 9. I started to develop very early causing me to appear bigger than other girls my age. I had the little pouch many young girls have and breast and started my perioed at age 10 ( only in 3rd grade due to being held back a year). Boy did teachers not know how to handle this! I was always teased. The boys called me Big Bertha.I look back at pics from elementary school and see a normal sized girl but I never felt that way at the time. So I started my first diet in about 7th grade. In 9th grade I remember doing weight watchers. The first of many times, it always worked but didn't last. I played feild hockey in higt school and this helped keep my weight in check. Although once again I always felt huge and fat!! So next came college. Of course the freshman 15 was more like the freshman 50. And then at the end of my sophmore year I decieded I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. So the next year I just took classes partime. THis made me feel very diconnected wtih all my friends from the first 2 years. It was a hard time so after this year I deceided to take time off because I really needed to pick a major but I had no idea what I wanted to do. So I went to work at a daycare for 3 years. This was rewarding but oh the food. we always had treats around. So the weight just piled on. Finally as rewarding as it was at the daycare I knew I needed to go back to school. So back I went to become an xray tech. During this time I lost a lot of weight for my sisters wedding. I did Jenny Craig. I managed to keep it off for only about a yar and a half. So know i am back into the cycle of gaining and then losing some and gaining more back. During this time I continued on with my education to become a radiation therapist. During one of my losing phases I started walking/ jogging and hurt my knee. This started a down fall in my health. At this point I had high blood pressure as well then my gallbladder went and then my other knee. I also was diagnosed with PCOS. So I had my other knee surgery and after 6 months and endless physical therapy it still was bothering me. At this timei had to get the weight off for good. So I started researching wls. I am lucky and work at a fabulose hospital that has a wonderful bariatrics program. So here i am now losing and feeling wonderful about my decision.
