Surgeon Testimonial

Jack Ditslear, M.D.
Dr. Ditslear was so kind, and caring, and patient with me. I reviewed information about doctors, types of surgeries, outcomes, complications post-operatively, etc... over 5 years before deciding to go through with having the procedure done. I had a classmate in nursing school who had the surgery done and she recommended Dr. Ditslear. I was so pleased she did. He did my surgery 9/29/2010 and everything went wonderfully! A friend I work with and her husband also had it done all within a month from one another and all of us went to Dr. Ditslear. Prior to surgery, he spoke with me one last time, and I knew I was in good hands by his gentle manner.

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.
I struggled with various dieting programs, losing 20 lbs here, 30 lbs there, but regaining the weight back plus some. I was an emotional eater, eating when I was happy, sad, upset, angry, stressed, etc... This made dieting a greater struggle for me due to lack of ability to control my impuses to overeat, especially high concetrated sweats. I just turned 40 in January of 2012, and I am healthier now post surgery than I was at the age of 25.  I have a life again!  I am the mother of a wonderful daughter and an amazing son.  I am also a grandmother to a grandson and soon-to-be another grandson.  I am a nurse and work 2 jobs and I love and enjoy helping people.

Just over a year....
on February 5, 2012 9:17 am
I am just over a year out of surgery.  I had the Roux-en-Y performed on 9/29/2011.  At that time, I was at my highest weight, weighing in at 298.6.  I am now 134.4 and vary a couple pounds through the month, but have managed to maintain pretty much in that weight range.  I have a life again, and I am enjoying it with my children and grandson.  I'm healthier now at 40 than I was at 25, and loving how it has positively influenced my life.
