Surgeon Testimonial

Carlos Barba, M.D.
My surgery date was September 5, 2007rnrnI have nothing but wonderful things to say about Dr. Barba, his staff and St. Francis nurses. The only thing I did not like was I was kept 10 hours in the recovery room without my family being able to see me. I waited to get a room until 8:15pm then my family was finally able to see me. They had waited since I was taken to the OR at 8:30am. I am just one week out but I am doing well. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You Dr. Barba & staff.

9/5/09

Today I celebrate my 2nd year anniversary with great joy. I feel wonderful my weight is at 139lbs. my total loss of 155lbs. has given me a new outlook on life. I am still very un happy about the flabby skin hanging but I must deal with that. I am no happily playing with my new Grandson Anthony and loving every minute of it. More positives from having the surgery are, No longer have diabities, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, knee pain I am now off meds for every one of those things. I thank God every day for the opportunity to have the Gastric Bypass and for giving me a second chance on life.

Attained my weight goal

Today I met my goal weight 160lbs. I have lost a total of 134lbs. since my surgery on September 5, 2007. I can not decribe how Happy I am. I just brought a dress for a wedding that I am going to in July and it looks terrific on me. I have not worn a dress in 13 years and even before then I looked like a huge blimp in a dress. Going shopping for clothes at a size 10 not 26-28 is wonderful. I am still very self concious of the flab on my arms & legs but trying hard to exercise and tone up. this surgery was the best thing health wise I have ever done. I am gong to stick with this and maintain my weight at 160 or better.

Newest Weight

Just thought I would update my profile. I am almost 6 months out and have lost 120lbs. I feel like a 25 year old instead of 51. Just  came back from a wonderful vacation in the Pocono's with my husband, daughter and son-in-law. I have never had so much fun in my life. I laughed so hard I thought i would split a seam. I can never put into words how happy I am for making the decision to have the RNY. Even with the few complications I had.

Biggest WOW Moment 1/27/08
on January 27, 2008 10:38 am
Well after several bumps in the road after surgery I am well on  my way to a much healthier way of living. My start weight was 294 before my September 5, 2007 surgery date. As of today 1/27/08 I have lost 101lbs. Did you read that 101lbs. I don't know when the last time was that I weighed any where near 193lbs. I want to go to the highest building and yell from the roof tops I LOST 101lbs. I feel terrific, so much energy, walk a mile each day and also ride exercise bike three times a day for 10 minutes each time. I still look in the mirror and see a somewhat fat person looking back, I know it is going to take some time for all the excess fat to go away and for my mind to see the skinny person really in the mirror. I am forever greatful to Dr. Barba, my family and friends for their support and encouragement. What a great day this is.
