Surgeon Testimonial

Steven M. Clark, MD
I first met Dr. Clark in the emergency room where I was told I had a large umbilical hernia. He was very calming with a way that made me say \"it's ok to have surgery\" even though I'd never had anything major like that before. My impression of him remains the same. He's always friendly, always has a smile to share, and always encourages me to be all I can be.rnrnHis office staff - from the receptionist to the check out staff - are all wonderful. They act as though they've known me forever! rnrnThere isn't really anything negative I can say about Dr. Clark or his staff. I highly recommend him! He strongly advises aftercare - support groups, seeing the dietician, etc. through the hospital's weight loss center. If I did have to pick ONE thing, it would be that he doesn't spend a lot of time with me on my return visits, but I know he's extremely busy. If I have a concern, he listens.rnrnHe did go over all of the risks of both types of surgery and recommended the lap band procedure. If I had to do it over again - I would - in a heart beat!rnrnOn a scale of 1 - 10 (with 10 being the highest), I'd rate Dr. Clark a 11! His surgical competence and bedside manner are both wonderful!

My Story

I've been a big girl all of my life.  I've tried several weight loss programs from diet pills to having a balloon placed in my stomach.  I've probably lost (and found) a thousand pounds in my life!  My health has started to suffer because of my weight, both physical and mental well-being.  I was sick and tired of being sick and tired.

In April of 2006 I had to have hernia surgery - and that changed my life!  I met Dr. Steven M. Clark, and in his office spoke with a woman who had lap band surgery.  I visited with Dr. Clark about it and on November 15, 2006 I had the surgery!  On the day before my surgery, I wore a size 26-28 slacks and a 3-4XL top.  Today I'm wearing a size 6 in jeans and an XL in tops.  I'm only 6 months out and have a ways to go, but I'm working daily to be a 'better me'!
