Surgeon Testimonial

Amir Moazzez M.D.
So far I feel very comfortable with Dr. Moazzez. I really like the approach he takes to weight loss sugery- that it is only a tool for weight loss. rnrnHe has an excellent staff that is helping me through the entire preapproval process. He has a VERY structured aftercare program that I like also. I like that there will be plenty of support for me after my surgery also.

Hey Kathy, I know that you will do well and I look forward to sitting on your end of the bench. It seems like it has taken so long to get here, and now it is at our doorstep. I know that you will do well. Just sit back, relax, and enjoy the journey...life is about to change. John

Home Sweet Home
on May 31, 2007 2:13 pm
Just got home and took a shower...wow do I feel better. Tired, but a good tired.

WLS is done! I'm on the bench. No where to go but down now. Got to keep sipping, get my fluids in, try to get some protein down.

Just a little update. I'm back!

Surgery is tomorrow. FINALLY. It's totally surreal.

I am not nervous, though. I think just feeling anxious and lots of anticipation.

I am READY. 100% Ready.

See you all on the other side!

No turning back now!

Just drank the first dose of the bowel prep. DELISH! There is no turning back now...not after that nasty-ness. Bleh.

I really think that I have kind of come to terms with surgery. This is a good decision for me and everything will be fine. I have a ton of support and I have done all my homework.

Nothin to do now but looooooooose!!

See you guys on the bench!

10 days left- AHHHHH!!
on May 19, 2007 1:55 pm
I think I am becoming addicted to this website. I find myself spending more and more time on OH every day. I guess I just need a little quality time with people (even if only virtually...) who are on the same path as I am. It's hard to explain to the skinny minnies of the world what it is like to fight your body your whole life- let alone to explain to them what it is like to try to wrap your mind around the idea of this surgery and how potentially life changing it is. Needless to say- the people here on OH have been SO helpful, supportive, kind...all of it. It's been great for me.

Anyway- I'm 10 days out. I love all my peeps from the May Surgery boards. It's been so great reading all the posts about people coming home and how much weight everyone has lost. They are all so supportive of each other and it's so nice to have that.

I posted some new "before" pics courtesy of my Bestie. I had my pre-op with the surgeon and I feel 100% at ease with him. He is a very nice man and kinda cute too  :) ha ha...  He did hear the same murmur that PA Barbie heard so I went yesterday for an echocardiogram. My last pre-op appointment is with the cardiologist on Wednesday.

All systems are go for launch. I can't wait for this to happen. I can't wait to start to get my life back. I have wanted this for so long and now it's just still hard to imagine what it could be like.

Only one pre-op test left...
on May 15, 2007 11:56 am
So all my pre-op tests are done. I had my endoscopy today. That was no big deal at all. Very easy. My best friend graduates from Nursing School on Friday so they let her come in the room with me and watch. The only thing I have left is the cardiologist. Apparently, I have a heart murmur (or so says the stupid PA at the GI doc's office). So I have to get a cardiac clearance. I know it will be no big deal, but it's just one more thing I have to do.

Optifast is going well. I have cheated a few times, but I'm back on the wagon. I will eat on Friday when I go to breakfast with my friend for her graduation. But other than that- Optifast all the way. The more I can get rid of before surgery, the better.

So far I have had such a great experience with Inova Fair Oaks. All of the nurses and staff are WAY nice. They have all had such great attitudes about the surgery and all the testing. They have really made it a very positive experience.
