My Story

I'm a Mother of 5 and a GrandMother to a very sweet Grandson. I have struggled with my weight since the birth of my first child 21 yrs ago. Food has brought me comfort and my addiction had gotten so out of control. My heaviest was in Nov of 2009 at 296lbs at 5'3. After the sudden death of my Brother I started to re-evaluate my own life and all I was missing out on. I had started staying away from school functions and was so embarrassed to be seen. I just shut myself away from the world and my family was suffering right along with me. I decided I didn't want to die from my obesity and I had my gastric bypass in July of 2011. I reached my goal weight within the first year! I am in the gym at least 3 days a week for a good two hours. I'm now bike riding, running, and hiking as well. My Husband has been a gym rat for so long and has always begged me to go with him. I had a membership for 2 yrs that I never even used! Now I push him on days he's too tired and it has been so nice to do something together that he has wanted to do for so long. Our Children are so happy with how active I have become and now that I've changed my eating habits they have even lost some weight. It was such a great feeling to see the excitement on my Son's face when we went on our first roller coaster together... That was the first thing he said he wanted to do with me when I lost my weight. I hadn't been on a ride in 15yrs because I had to walk off a roller coaster when I was unable to fit! I was so mordified I never tried again. Now... nothing stops me! I am the happiest I have been in a very long time... Such an amazing feeling!
