Surgeon Testimonial

Luis V. Gorospe M.D.
I was very impressed by seminar I attended for Dr Gorospe. He did come recommended by fellow co-workers who have already had WLS. Gave a very detailed presentation of both options, providing pros and cons. The decision is always left up to the patient to choose which tool will best help them. I had already decided on the lap/RNY after discussing with both my primary care dr and specialist for my diabetes.

Lisa has been great.........she let me fax over my approval letter to expedite scheduling since the office move has caused some delays when the case processors decided not to make the move and they are training new person to take over where others left off. Been a bit choatic for her, but a real trooper trying to help in the meantime.

Hair Loss
on July 12, 2008 5:42 am

Wow, the hair on top is really, really thin.  I didn't expect it to get this bad.  But I have gotten a wig and am getting used to it.  Kinda hot wearing one in the summer.  I've been thinking of shaving my head and see how it grows out over the summer!  Would diffently make wearing the wig more comfortable, but dunno when of if I will really do it.  Just a thought running through my head.

I sure hope it does come back like it was before the surgery.

I have a new Kitty
on June 11, 2008 6:09 pm
I got myself a cute little man at the pet store!  He is a mixed blue point siamese named "Puca".  Reminded me of  a "puca shell" necklace for those of you old enough to remember those.  Quite a little character.  It had been more than a year since I lost my last cat to sickness.  So it was time to move on again.  He has such a loud purring motor.  Love him!

I have moved back to working in the office again.  I was getting too lonely working from home.  Time to give someone else the opportunity on my team.  I love being back around people.  Luckily, I only live 5 miles from work with these terrible gas prices.

Life is good with Heavenly Father in my life.

Down 75 lbs.
on May 23, 2008 6:12 am
It is hard to believe that I have lost this much weight.  Of course the gentle reminder is all my sagging skin!  But I feel so much more energetic and healthy.  My family is so proud of me!

I was having major hair loss, but it seems to have slowed down a little.  That is good, since it was already thin on top to start with.

I think I will treat myself to a new outfit today.  Clothes that fit are very scarce right now.  My shoes are also feeling loose, may have to get some new ones for summer.

Onederland - Today March 6 2008
on March 6, 2008 6:17 am
I finally hit under 200 lbs!  Today it is 198!  Now my driver license is only 18 lbs under my actual weight, ha, ha.  I've kept it at 180 for the past 15 years even though I weighed more.

I now weigh less than my brother, of course, he is taller and can carry more weight. (6' and about 210)  But he says he wants to get down to 180, so I have to keep on losing to weigh less than him.  A little competition does not hurt.

Since I started my weight loss, my mother has also been losing weight and she has been under 195 I believe for a month or so now.  More competition there, but I guess I do have an advantage as far as controlling what I eat!

I am so happy and still recovering well from my recent surgery.

February 28th, Appendicitis
on March 1, 2008 6:39 pm
Woke up in terrible pain about 2 am and when it did not subside by 730 am I headed off to the ER.  (Now, don't ask me why I waited so long, cause I don't know)  Turns out my appendix was the culprit!  Here I am, 3 mos out from my RNY and now another surgery.  But no one could have known it was going to go bad when it did.

So about 730 pm I was in the OR having it removed.  Got back up to my room by around 10 pm.  Surgeon told me it was a little difficult removing so it took little longer than usual, but thank goodness it was still done lap and not open.  I was also dehydrated and potassium was low, so they had to get me stabilized after surgery before going back to room.  I was really out of it for the rest of the night.

By 5 am I was more awake and feeling so much better since the bad pain was gone.  I even felt like drinking water to ease my sore throat.  Took couple more hours before nurse would remove the foley, and once it was gone I really started to feel normal.  I hate those things.  Got to go home later that day around 1130.  Slept much better at home in my own bed!  Looks like I will be off work for about 2 weeks before Dr will release me back to work.

But I am alive, and doing so much better now.

My Story

Long story.............short version!

I have fought my weight since Jr High School, gained some control while in USAF, but became lost cause after having my children and getting hysterectomy.

I was married, now divorced and grandmother to 2 little boys.  I want to have the energy to play and have fun with them. I would love to enjoy going to the fair again and walking the craft booths. I want to enjoy summertime without getting over-heated because of my weight.  I just plain want to enjoy the rest of my life.
