Surgeon Testimonial

Samer Mattar M.D.
Dr. Matter is wonderful. soft spoken. reassuring. calm. I went to Clarian Bariatrics and everything was like clock work. Everything happened like I was taught. I dont think his staff could have had me any more educated or prepared than I was. I would recommend him to anyone. I had no complications. No nausea no vomiting which I believe is due to the medications he gives routinely in the hospital. I couldnt have been more pleased with my experience and with him as my surgeon. Considering Im an RN that is saying alot.

Today was my first nutrition class. Learned alot of information. We all had to weigh in today and I was down 6.1lb. Hooray...I still have 13.9 to go before my surgeon will do the surgery though. Kind of discurouraging though when others are sitting in class around you saying there doctor doesnt require weight loss prior to surgery. I just keep telling myself I've picked a great surgeon and he is looking for the best outcome....

My psychiatric eval. I had heard some horror stories about this eval and was very nervous. Some people told me I would have to justify why I wanted to get this done and the psychiatrist will argue with you. My appt went very well. The psychiatrist was very kind and easy to talk with. She cleared me for surgery and stated she felt I was realistic and wouldnt have any problems. But she did warn me that everyone has some low days after surgery no matter how prepared you are....And of course I still need to lose 20lbs...this is the challenge..

Spring 2009: I went to a required seminar on WLS. After making appt with doctor found out my insurance doesnt pay for the surgery. fast forward to Jan 2010. new insurance.

Jan 2010: I have my first appt with barriatric surgeon Dr. Mattar at Clarian bariatrics in Indianapolis. Have much research I had decided on the gastric sleeve for myself. I did not want any kind of malabsorption surgery. I was pleasantly surprised by Dr. Mattar he was very kind and compassionate. You just never know with surgeons. He requires some weight loss prior to surgery in what he calls a liver reduction diet. To help decrease possibility of complications during surgery. This is a high protein low carb diet. I have to lose 20lbs. Oh boy
