Surgeon Testimonial

Virginia McGrath-Weaver
My first impression was \"here is a really sweetheart of a lady who has confidence in what she does for a living and loves helping people. rnrnI was one of the few people that had severe anemia and ended up having two units of blood and she was right there with the bedside manner of friend you have known for life. rnrnI can not say enough about Dr. Weaver. I would not ever think of trying another doctor. She is the best.

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.
I had struggled since high school and thought this is just how it has to be. I was disappointed in myself for not having any self control. I felt like such a failure as a person. Even when my grandson who is 5 said, Mawmaw your big, knowing he was just saying what kids his age say, it hurt so badly I wanted to cry.

I can't believe it has been this long since I updated.  I am doing very well.  Lot's of energy.  Had about 4 days a couple a weeks ago where I wasn't feel up to par so when to PCP, and found out it was time to come off the blood pressure medication.  Within about three days, I was back to feeling great.
I have found that I have a hard time getting in vegatables.  I crave fruit so would rather eat that than green beens.  Once in a while I do manage a few bites of steamed broccoli but really need to work on getting in some veggies.  I still use a Adkins Advantage Shake with 1 scoop of protein powder to make sure I get my protein in.  Still working on the water.  I have found i can no longer handle just plain water.  Can not handle Crystal Light anymore.  The only thing I can drink are grape Propel or grape flavored Aquafine.  I resently tried grape KoolAid but have to add extra water as it is too strong.  I am only getting in about half of the suggested fluids so need to step that up.  That maybe why the weight loss is slowing to only about one to two pounds a week.  It has been 3 months so actually 58 pounds is a super weight loss but like everyone else, I want it now!   Of course, it took longer than 3 months to get to 250 pounds on a 5 ft 3 1/2 in frame.  I no longer have to go to the large womens side of the stores.  I wear XL tops from the Misses dept. as well as 16 pants.  It feels great to be able to buy regular sizes for a change!
