Surgeon Testimonial

Virginia McGrath-Weaver
My first impression was \"here is a really sweetheart of a lady who has confidence in what she does for a living and loves helping people. rnrnI was one of the few people that had severe anemia and ended up having two units of blood and she was right there with the bedside manner of friend you have known for life. rnrnI can not say enough about Dr. Weaver. I would not ever think of trying another doctor. She is the best.

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.
I had struggled since high school and thought this is just how it has to be. I was disappointed in myself for not having any self control. I felt like such a failure as a person. Even when my grandson who is 5 said, Mawmaw your big, knowing he was just saying what kids his age say, it hurt so badly I wanted to cry.

NOW ON THE LOSING SIDE
on April 24, 2009 3:19 pm
I went in Tuesday at 6:30 am.  Taken back to the "waiting room" at 7:30.  Dr arrived at 9:25.  Surgery started 10:10 and only took 45 minutes.  Woke up in recovery but do not remember going to my room.  I did okay but was severly anemic.  Ended up having 2 units of blood on Wednesday night.  Also, was not getting rid of the fluids so they had to hang 3 special fluid to help with that..  Finally during the night, the fluid finally released and then the catherter was almost running over.  Still left on Thursday as planned.  Have to walk hunched over as the staples pull.  The worst is sitting and standing.  You do not realize how much you use the stomach muscles for that.  I have taken pain meds last night and today.  Did take my vitamins and regular meds.  Then drank one of my Atkins Advantage shakes.  Had hubby fix me a soft scramble egg.  Took an hour to eat it but boy was it good!  The reast of the day will be getting the water in.  I did note also that I did gain a little weight fgain due  the IV drips.  So I started the weight track today even though I had lost 5 pounds from that before surgery.

So, about time for another pain med then nap time.  You do wear out quickly the first few days.
