    Best of luck on your surgery. I hope that you have an uneventful one and quick recovery. Welcome to the darkside. It's rough in the beginning but I know it will be well worth it.

Just received my pre-op packet
on March 24, 2009 9:56 am

Ok.... looking through my pre-op packet which they call a "BARI-BIBLE". It's making this all seem more real, it's really about to happen. They have all my appointments set up as follows...

Tuesday, May 05- Cardiologist and EGD (GI Scope)
Thursday, May 07- Pre-op Dietary Education;
 Thursday, May 14-  FULL LIQUID DIET that day... Lord help me

Tuesday, May 12- Pre-op class

Soon after this on May 28st I will be having my surgery. So excited and ready. I was told that I have to pay all fees up front so I called Aetna to make sure I know what to expect. I learned that the max out of pocket I can pay is $1800 including my deductible. That's awesome!!!!! I am just prayer and getting myself prepared for what's all about to happen. So ready and anxious to get it all started. I am just studying my "Bari-Bible" because I have to bring it to class and what to make sure I am ready for all that they will be discussing. There's even a quiz at the end of it that I need to complete.... Anyways hope everything is well for everyone and remember to always keep the faith.

Ok... well just talked with the insurance coordinator and she said that they are going to have to open a new case, but they are going to use my approval for the RNY as a reference. She said that they were still uploading my information in there system. Hopefully, I will here something soon. I am hopiing that I can get my same date of April 6th like I had for the RNY. Pray for me ya'll. Being very patient and hoping that it pays off.  I am ready to hear the words "you are approved" !!

My Story

Hello All.... My name is Faith P. and I am from Baton Rouge, La. That means I have been surrounded by good Ole' southern cooking. I have had a weight problem my entire life. I remember when I was 8 yrs. old I weighed 110 lbs. I have a younger sister who always been very thin so the way they told us apart was the "BIG" one and the "little" one. Having that happen to me during my childhood has had a lasting affect with me even in my adulthood. I was always very active during school. I excelled in volleyball, softball, and basketball. I might have been heavy, but I always able to get around what I thought to be good. The older I got the more I weighed. I really was getting tired of always being told what a pretty face I had. I always wanted to have the body that went with the face. Now being that I lived in the south it is excepted more to have a little weight on you. So I began to except that I will always be like this. Skipping ahead I got pregnant with my son when I was 21 and with that pregnancy came another 40 lbs. and 10 more after I had him. Kayden's father and I loved each other and got married. I love the fact that he loved me for me. I always came across as a confident person, but on the inside I was miserable. Every time I brought up my weight in conversation with my friends they told me that I was making more out of it then it really is.  I hated how I felt, and for the first time my weight was affecting my everyday life.  I couldn't get around as well as I would like and having a young child wasn't helping, I always thought about getting a WLS, but never thought that I would be able to. Well my job got a new insurance that covered WLS and the idea became a possibility. I've tried all the diets and pills and nothing seemed to work for very long. I am very excited to be on this journey and can't wait to see where I'll end up.
