Nutritionist/Dietician Visit
on April 30, 2007 5:22 pm
I met with my Dietician today.  She was very nice.  Yes she was very informitive, but didn't tell me much more than I already know.  I am checking in with her weekly starting today.  Weight and food diary must be tracked.  She did give me a few new ideas of how to increase my protein, so that was good.  We are starting there... I know I have a huge CARB addiction, so I have to start replacing those with protein calories.  Once I get on a better regimine of balancing the diet with more protein and less carbs, we will work on all of the other stuff.  So I was glad that she is guidining me with what foods I choose, rather than just take everything away and starve!  We all know that THOSE diets don't work!
Anyway.... feeling pretty good about all of this!   :)

And the verdict is....

Sleep Apnea!  Duhhhhhh..... I've been saying for years "I don't sleep".
So my pcp called today.  My results are in, and yes, he wants me to go on a C-pap machine.  I guess there is a bright side to this.
1)  I will be actually getting a better night's sleep.
2)  Being diagnosed helps in me getting approved for the durgery through my insurance company.
So I have to pick up the referral to see the sleep doctor on Friday.  My pcp says that I should also go on the bp and cholesterol meds.  He will go over all of that at my appointment on Friday.
Til then...

Sleep Study???
on April 23, 2007 5:11 pm
So I slept at the hospital for my sleep study last night.  No results yet, but i'm very curious of what they found out, or didn't find...
So....

Home sleep...                    Hospital Atmosphere...
King Bed                            Twin Bed
Hubby that snores            Slept alone
Down Comforter               Sheet & cotton blanket (They took it off me)
Some light in room           No light, no window, pitch dark!
2 dogs snoring                  No noise at all
2 kids fighting bedtime    ????  Nothing ????

Hmmmmmm....

I gotta say, I think I got the better sleep at the hospital...

I turned the tv off at 11 pm.
The only time the technician came in the room was when I was trying to fall asleep.  3 times!
1st time - I was drifting off... he came in and said he was getting a high temp reading from myhead, so he flipped my pillow over.
2nd time - drifting again... said the same thing, so he came in and made me take off the blanket!
3rd time - Drifting off AGAIN!!!!! he said he was still getting a high temp reading and turned the thermostat down and also made me have a fan blowing on my head all night.  (I actually like the white noise sound of the fan, but I was a little chilly)
Well he didn't come in any more, I'm assuming that it was around midnight at this time.
I felt the wires quite a bit because I roll from side to side as I sleep.   I also picked at the hoses and wire that were in my nostrils.  Bet that looked lovely on camera!
Next thing I knew he was waking me up.  I didn't look at the time, but when I got in my car, it was still dark and 5:30 am!  Still sleep time normally, so I felt very out of it.

Well anyway, I will post when I get the results.
Til next time!
Kelly

Met The Doc
on April 13, 2007 5:35 pm
I met Dr Singh yestereday.  He was very nice and agreed that I have "All the right ingredients" for Lap Band.  I was actually sick the day and night before so I weighed in 3 pounds lighter than I normally do.  Well that "Hurt" me.  My bmi was only 39.5.  How ironic are those last two sentences?  Anyway... I have a sleep study scheduled for the 22nd.  I am only scratching the surface here.  I'll keep posting!  Til then...

The ball is "Officially Rolling"...
on April 10, 2007 6:33 pm
I had my psych evaluation today!  What a wonderful hour and a half!  I felt Good, I mean REAL GOOD after I left there today.  Wow!  What professionalism and genuine care and concern.  I saw Bea Flynn... she's incredible!  Thank You Bea!  I saw her in my surgeons office.  So I brought my packet with me and gave it to the administration ladies because my appointment is with Dr Singh on Thursday.  I have NEVER seen 2 ladies get SOOO Excited that I had everything complete, signed, and told them I had made 3 copies of everything for my records.  They were AMAZED at my organization.  I hope this is a sign that my process is going to continue on the up and up and run nice and smoothly.  I'm excited...  WOO HOOOOOOOO!!!! ;)
Til Thursday... With my blog after seeing Dr Singh!
