Hi everyone. So glad I found OH. I have been obese my whole life (as far back as I can remember). Looking forward to jumping on the bandwagon.

I had my sleeve on may 7th
on May 12, 2012 9:21 pm
6 days post op and finally feeling a little better. Only getting small amount of fluids in. Very hard. The first 4 days were bad. Hope it gets better. I am down 14lbs already but I think some of that is just dehydration.

2 mo post op
on January 19, 2009 7:33 pm
Tomorrow marks my two month anniversary. I am currently at 240lbs this am.

I made it through the holidays just fine. Followed band rules and only a few treats. Had my first fill Jan 6th in the office. No pain, very easy. Have a little more restriction. Only eat about a cup of food each meal. I only eat 3 meals a day, usually no snacks. I have large decaf coffee with chocolate unjury protein between breakfast and lunch and then a protein shake after dinner. I really don't feel hungry unti about 4hrs after my meals. The band really works. I follow the rules, though.

I have started working out just about every am for 45 min. I bought a used treadmill on craigslist for $150 and it works great. Today I bought a new nordic track elliptical online, should be arriving in about 10 days. I treated myself bigtime, but hey getting skinny is not cheap. I am looking forward to workouts on my new machine. I used to love using the ellipitical when I used to go to the gym. Now I have created a little mini gym in my basement. I love it!!!!!! Now I am addicted to working out every am, boy I hope I keep this up. Exercise definitely makes a difference.

Looking forward to what the next month brings.

1 month post op
on December 20, 2008 7:20 pm

I made it through the first month. I am at 251 lbs now. That is 20lbs gone since surgery and another 5lbs of preop wt. I can already tell the difference. Most of my clothes are too big for me. Started out as size 22/24 and already wearing some 14/16 tops and 20 bottoms that are starting to feel quite lose.

I cut my hair few days ago too, which has made a world of difference. Many people are commenting on my wt loss, which just keeps my motivation up. I am also waiting the return of my husband who has not seen me at all since surgery. He has been away for 3 months and will be home in a few weeks. Can't wait to see his reaction the new and improved me. Would love to be another 5 lbs down before he gets home.

The wierdest thing for me is that I don't really think about eating all the time. I do get really hungry but that is about 4-5hrs after my last meal. I am eating mostly protein and veges and still drinking two protein drinks a day. Love the unjury protein. I have a large cup of coffee with chocolate protein every morning and it is delicious. I am struggling to get in 64 ounces of water a day. Usually get about 50 if I am good. Need to work harder at that.

I also started working out this week. Got on my treadmill that has beem dormant for about 5 mos since I bought it. IT FELT GREAT to work out again.

Looking forward to the next month.

10 days post op and feeling good
on November 29, 2008 9:33 am
Well had my surgery on Nov20th, took me a good week to feel back to myself with good energy. Had my mom for first 5 days which helped alot. Did not feel hungry at all until one week post op. Have been on my full liquid diet but started adding pureed eggsalad (2-3 tsp) once a day to satisfy my hunger.  Has been much better. Loving the unjury protein. Add 1 scoop of chocolate in coffee in am and love the strawberry made with skim milk and 2 Tbsp of greek yogurt, tasteyummy and tons of protien with all three together.

My Story

I have been obese since I was a child. At age 38, I have finally decided to do something about it. Like everyone else I have tried every diet out there, some with success and some with out. But I always end up gaining the weight back and then some. My mom had RNY three years ago and has had amazing success. She has inspired to have bariactric sugery while I am still have lots of life to live. I decided the lap band was my only hope in July and went to my seminar in August and have been slowly going through all the preop.
I just finished all my preop. I thought I was "healthy" except being obese, no high blood pressure, normal cholesterol, no diabetes, no cardiac issues. But to my surprise, I have moderate sleep apnea and have to sleep with a CPAP machine. I had no idea. This has made be more determined to get to a healthier weight.
I am anxiously awaiting to be approved by my insurance company and getting that date. Now that I have decided to have the procedure I want it done now, better yet yesterday.
I thank everyone on the site for posting and inspiring me everyday. Every night I browse the site and try to picture my self 100lbs lighter like so many of you. Much love to you all.
