I just got home from the hospital to see her. She is doing good, but of course is in pain. She is feeling lots of gas. She is looking forward to being able to drink something. She was looking really good and seemed to be doing pretty good considering. Hopefully she will be home tomorrow. Teresa

Hello,
My name is Kim and I've been overweight pretty much all my life.  There were a few times I actually lost a significant amount of weight but would eventually gain it back plus some.  When I got married I was 185 lbs.  I SOON got pregnant and gained 50 more pounds.  I lost 30 pounds after I had my daughter, but that 30 lbs came back, plus some, and I've stayed at 250-260 for about 12 years now.  I did lose down to 200 when I started taking diet pills but as soon as I stopped taking them the weight came back on.  I'm so tired of diets and I'm so looking forward to my surgery.  I'd be lying if I said I wasn't scared.  Surgery is set for October 17th.  I think this is going to be the longest month of my life...Next to the 7 months of sleep deprivation after my daughter was born.

6 Month Update
on April 23, 2008 5:06 am
Well it's been quite a while since I"ve updated my profile so I thought it was about time.  I'm down 77 pounds and have 39 pounds to go to be at goal.  Time has flown by.  I can't believe it's already been 6 months.  It seems like just yesterday I was going crazy waiting for my surgery and now it's 6 months later.

Everything has been going pretty well.  I have had a lot of hair loss, which I DON'T like, and I've had a few stalls, but other than that I'm very happy with my progress.  I just got off a month stall.  I don't mind stalls when they last a week or so but a month is too much.  I'm down from a size 24, some 26's, to a 14 and I can wear a size L t-shirt.  I have this t-shirt that I bought in the Bahama's years ago.  It has been too small for 14 years.  I bought it before I even met my husband and we've been married for 14 years now.  Anyway...there's nothing significant about the shirt except I think it's real funny.  I'll have to take a picture of it sometime, and post it to my pictures but  I wore it Saturday when I took my daughter, and her choir class, to Six Flags.  It felt sooo good to be able to wear that shirt.  That was the only thing I kept from when I was small.

That's all I know for now.  I'm so glad I had this surgery and I'd do it again in a heart beat.  I've attacheds ome pictures from my Sleeve support group meeting Sunday.  Can ya tell a difference?

11 Days since my surgery
on October 28, 2007 7:24 am
Well it's been 11 days since my surgery.  I'm feeling pretty good just weak.  I'm not taking all my vitamins like I should and I think that's the problem.  I'm down 22 pounds and can hardly believe it.  I've tried on a couple pair of pants, that I haven't been able to wear in a couple of years, and they're already baggy on me.   Goodwill here I come.  I'm going to need some new clothes pretty quick.   It's coming off faster than I thought it would.  I just know I'd be a slow loser, and I still may be once I can get all my protein in, but it's sure nice right now.

EXCITED TO BE ON THE LOSER'S BENCH!

6 DAYS AND COUNTING
on October 11, 2007 9:23 am

Today is my second day on liquids.  It's going pretty well except I have a headache right now.  I had my appointment at Vista Hospital today and everyone was really nice.  The got a lot of great information in our meeting.  We even got to try different protein drinks.

Last night I went to my first support group meeting in Allen.  It was great meeting everyone.

Well I'm ready for this to be over with.  I'm reallly excited and most of my fears have been put to rest.  I know there can be complications and I just pray that if I have any they're mild.

Thanks to everyone for you support and encouragement.   I'm excited about the changes that are about to happen in my life.  I'm ready to participate in life instead of just sit on the sidelines.  I'd be lying if I said I wasn't scared but I know my Savior has my hand and I have support from people who have traveled this road before me.

2 Weeks from Tomorrow
on October 2, 2007 8:20 pm
OMG...In two weeks I'll be getting my surgery.  It feels like its been a year, and I'm going crazy.

Ok so tomorrow I go for my Stress test....I'll be glad to get that over with.  Next Wednesday I start on my liquids.  Once I start the liquids then I'll know I'm really getting close.  I'm sure that week is going to be a long one.

I'm adding some new pictures so be sure to check them out.

19 days and counting
on September 28, 2007 7:28 am
Well I'm now 19 days from my surgery.  I'm still a little scared but I'm sure I'll remain that way until they put me under.  A friend of mine has really had a hard time and that scares me a little too.  He had surgery 3 weeks ago and a couple of days ago had to have emergency surgery for kidney stones.  They took out 3 but he still has more in the other kidney.  He was so dehydrated that when they gave him an IV, and got his fluids up to normal, he gained back 12 of the 45 lbs he had lost.

Note to self:  DON'T GET DEHYDRATED
