Merry Christmas!
I hope everyone is able to make wonderful memories this Christmas with family and friends.
I have an added incentive to "be Good" this year.  I just reached the 100 pound mark for weight loss and I don't want to mess that up!

Happy ThanksGiving!

Things are beginning to get back to "normal".  I spent last week cleaning out the garage.  It was a lot of work, but it feels GREAT to have it finished.
I hope everyone has a nice Thanksgiving    with family and friends.
Remember to eat healthy and fill up on turkey instead of those diabolical desserts.

Fall Update
on October 23, 2007 10:09 pm

I'm really overdue for an update.  In general, things are going well in Nebraska.  Our support group is growing, and yet is still small enough to allow us all to still talk like friends when we get together.  I have one more pound to lose to reach the 100 pound mark.
I've had a few rough weeks this month.  My dad had back surgery, then my mother-in-law had a massive stroke and died.  And to top that off, my aunt died from a brain tumor.  All this was in a 4 week time frame.  I am definately ready for some good news.

Spring Post

I'm enjoying the warmer weather.  I've been walking my dog again, and building up my distance.  After such a hard winter, it is so great to see all of the green grass and the buds on the trees.  I hope the increase in exercise will boost my metabolism.  My weight loss hit a plateau last winter.  Golf season will start soon.  I'm really excited about that!
May God Bless you all this Easter Season.

February's Post
on February 6, 2007 12:53 am
Happy Valentine's Day to everyone!
I haven't even gotten used to the idea of being in 2007, let alone realizing that January is already over.  Is anyone else struggling with emotional eating right now.  I think I have cabin fever.  I haven't been able to get out and walk the dogs due to the snow and ice on the streets.  Thus, I've not gotten enough exercise or sun on my face.  The dogs are a little stir crazy too.
I'm going through some personal struggles right now.  If you would keep me in your thoughts and prayers, I would really appreciate it.

My Story

I have been fighting weight gain since I was in the 6th grade.  Since then, I've lost weight only to regain it, then start the process over.

Two years ago, my family doctor told me about Lap-Band surgery.  He thought it would be a good option for me. I had never even heard of it until then.

When I found out some more information about the surgery, I started to get excited. I thought that, maybe, for the first time, I'd be able to keep the weight off.

Before surgery, I weighed 250 lbs.  I had slightly elevated blood pressure, sleep apnea, acid reflux, trouble breathing with activity and heat, sensitivity to heat exhaustion, joint pain (esp, in my knees, back, & feet), as well as heart problems and diabetes in my family. Basically, I was writing checks that my body could not cash.

Two years later, I have lost 93 lbs. and most of my health problems.  In fact, I feel 20 years younger, full of energy, hope and a new-found confidence.

My doctor and surgeon have helped me get my life back.  And thanks to my support group, family, and friends, I'm able to keep motivated and share my excitement with others.
