PS Post op issues

So, I had my tummy tuck 2-17-09 and did very well...talk about contour on the hips and a FLAT Tummy!!!  N-I-C-E!!!
At approximately 2 weeks post-op, I had a severe reaction to the surgical tape and it ended up causing a burn on my incision line at my pelvic area and some of the skin died.  Also almost lost the new belly button, but I think that we got to it in time.  I was havinga rough time with the drain and go back to the surgeon WEEKLY.  I ended up  having the drain in me for 7 weeks and once it was finally removed, I began to retain fluid and swell to the size of a 5-6 month pregnant woman.  I would go back weekly to have it drained, but nothing would really come out, so now I have another drain in me and it really is not pulling out anything.  UGHHHHHHHH.  I still have a small hole in my belly from the reaction, and that is allowing some of the fluid to come out.  I am suppose to go back in August/September for a revision, but I really dont know if I want to have anymore Plastics done after this experience.  I love my surgeon, he is awesome!  I just have had some major issues that are making it diffficult for me to follow through with my other planned surgeries!

11 months post-op
on July 12, 2008 3:58 pm

Well, I am finally out of the "Obese Catagory" and into the "Overweight" on the BMI charts!  It has been the most amazing 11 months I have ever seen.  The quality of my health has floored me.  I am no longer taking any meds at all except for the longgggg list of vitamins!  I have learned to hate those things, but take them without even thinking about it!  LOLOL  Especially the Biotin...I really miss my old hair and am trying to work with the new growth that has come back with a vengance...thicker and curly!!!  I have always had thin straight as a board hair and I dont really know how to properly care for this stuff.  LOLOLOL

I am in a size 12 and moving downward...

I had a consult with a Plastic Surgeon back in June, just to get a jump on things and he feels that I will def be ready in November to have the work done that I want ( tummy tuck and breast lift...with implants), I have never in my life considered the possibility of implants, but was informed that once I get the lift, I would be lucky to be an A cup!  Yeah, implants are in my future.

4 Days Post Op
on August 10, 2007 2:52 pm
Oh my goodness, where do I begin?  I had a rough time in the hospital, I couldnt not come out of the anesthesia and the nausea was horrible, so every time I woke up I went right back to sleep.  I think I scared the mess out of my husband.  Dr. J wanted me to stay another day, but we needed to get back home because we only had someone at the house caring for our animals until Tuesday evening.  I don't remember the drive home at all or the day after.  I guess that it is a good thing that I slept that much.  I had the JP Tube removed before I left the hospital, so the only one I am left with is the G Tube (which isn't too bad).  I apparently had a reaction to the surgical tape they used on me in OR and now have a bunch of little red itchy spots around all of my incision areas.  I talked to the ARNP today, and he suggested that I used the desolvable Benadryl.  I have a follow up with them on Monday, so I am not worried.  I have been up and walking and drinking and walking...  I went to Wal-mart with my husband this morning and was tired as soon as we got there, so I got to drive one of the grocery go carts!  That was a lot of fun...I know, it shouldn't have been, but it was.  I am such a child at heart.  I have been doing really well with getting my food in, I am having problems with the protein and water.  I feel so bloated right now that I think I may burst!  I am so happy that I did this, all that I am going through right now is going to pay off big time in the future.  I have lost a total of 16 pounds since I began the 2 week liquid diet and 4 days post-op.  Does it hurt?  Oh yes!  Do I think it will be worth it?  Oh YES!  I don't regret it a bit!!

My Story

I have been in the overweight world for as long as I can remember.  And it is now time for me to see the "other side of the world".  I have been looking into the surgery for a few years, but I guess that it was just an after thought for me until this year when we had some family issues related to health.  I jumped on that boat to get the ball rolling and I am ready to set sail.  I have a wonderful husband that is very supportive of me and is beside me all the way.  We are going to my pre-op together on August 2nd...I suppose that it will really hit me then!!!  I know that this is going to be a long and wild ride, but I feel sure that I am ready for what ever comes my way.  Between my husband, my friends and everyone in the forum's, I will be set for any downfalls that may come my way.
