Surgeon TestimonialNoel Williams, M.D.I met with Dr. Noel Williams of the University of Pennsylvania Hospital. He was very nice and a little funny. I believe he's British. He answered all my questions and was very patient with me. I asked him if this would be the last time I saw him until surgery. He said that I would probably see him around, but unless I requested for him to come in, I wouldn't meet with him again until my pre-op apppointments (2-3 weeks before surgery). During our conversation, he stressed the risks of surgery, the category that I was in (low-medium risk), and the other categories that patients fall into. He drew me pictures and explained most of what would happen immediately afterwards. I haven't had many interactions with him yet, but I would rate him as a 8 on a 1 to 10 scale. I also talked with the Clinical nurse Samatha Warner-Grimsley. She was very nice and gave a lot of information.
1-11-06: After my initial consultation (February), I didn't see Dr. Williams again until 1-2 days after my surgery. He came into check to see how I was. I was very groggy, so he didn't stay that long. I really didn't expected to see the doctor to much because during my initial visit I asked him if I would see him again, he said most likely not until surgery, unless somethings wrong. Nothing went wrong, but I would have like to see him before they put me to sleep before the surgery, but I didn't.

Hi Janine...I was
reading your
profile. My husband
had his surgery with
Dr Williams on May
6. I must say, he
had some similar
problems at the
hospital but all in
all he was ok with
the experience. I go
into HUP on June 24
for mine..I'm
jealous, it feels
like everyone else
is done sometimes.
Anyway..regarding
your weakness. My
husband is just now
regaining some of
his strength. It
must be the
reduction in
food/energy. He went
into work last
Wednesday for half a
day, mostly to say
hi to everyone and
get his mail. He was
there four hours and
came home and took a
3 hour nap. He
thinks he is going
back full time on
Tuesday (May 31). I
don't think he will
be able to handle 8
hours of work for 4
days straight but
he's gonna try. I've
been driving and the
bumps still make him
flinch. Seems like
everyday he is a
little stronger
through. Good luck
and congrats for
getting to the
losing side :)

I start my journey in February of 2005 when I was 24 years old. My starting weight was 296 pounds and I'm 5'6. I began this journey with high blood pressure, borderline diabetes, borderline high cholesterol, pain in my legs and knees, lower and upper back pain, dizzy spells, swelling of the joints, and a whole list of other problems. I was at a point where I didn't feel healthy anymore. I had surgery on May 9, 2005. Now I'm in the mist of my new life long journey. Please read through my journey to see details of my path, including the bumps in the road. Good things: I got married on September 22, 2005 and my husband is the best man I've every known, other than my Daddy. I now have a new ready-made family with a husband and a wonderful son. Here's the link to Photos from our Wedding if you're interested. I also had my first child on August 26, 2007. She is absolutely beautiful!!

Happy New Year.....
My weight has been acting crazy. One day I'm up to 170lbs, next day I'm down to 163lbs. It's probably just my scale but who knows. Of course I still haven't gone to get my blood work done. (I know...smack my hand, bad girl) I have no excuse. I'll let you know my results when I finally go to get it done.
I created a post the other day called "WLS: I wish someone would have told me..." I think it's a good post for Pre-Ops.

So I never made it back to finish my last post. It makes more sense to just write a new entry. I've been doing better with eating and vitamins, which has been very difficult with the holiday season. Some days, I feel faint a couple times a day, so I know that my vitamins must be deficient somewhere. It could also be that I'm not eating as often as I should because I usually feel faint when I missed a meal or something. I still haven't had time to get my blood work done, which is not a good excuse. I need to make time. It's funny because the days I have time to get the blood work done, I end up eating (I need to fast for the blood work). As I'm typing I realizing that I haven't eaten yet (it's about 10:30am). I think I'm going to head out and get this blood work done. But before I go, here goes a recent picture of me and the baby.

Ok, how long has it been.....I feel like I haven't been on here for ever. Thanks for the nudge saymyname.
So on with the update. Things have been going great. The baby is more wonderful everyday. She never ceases to amaze me. With my weight loss journey, the road has been a little bumpy. I have been completely forgetting to take my vitamins. I had to buy a dry erase board and calendar and put it next to my bed, so I could write a message to myself everyday to take my vitamins. I went to my doctor a couple of weeks ago, so I could get my blood work checked. Of course I haven't gone yet because I forgot, I will be going to get that done next week. I keep forgetting to eat, then by the time my body forces me to remember I have had to grab something that's not always the best to eat. So to help me with this problem, I've decided to create an eating schedule for myself. This way I have a specific time to eat. I'm also preparing my meals in bulk. When I have spare time, I make a whole bunch of meals and freeze them. This makes it easier so I don't have to prepare them on the spot.
Ok the baby's waking up and needs to be fed, so I'm going to continue this up date later today. Please excuse any typos, I didn't get to reread and correct this yet.
