Surgeon Testimonial

Rex Sherer
I immediately felt at ease with him and he took as much time with me that I needed. I didn't feel rushed and I believed I was in excellent hands. The entire staff at his practice is kind and helpful, very friendly. He is very up front about after care-do what you need to, you'll be fine-don't, and you'll fail. There isn't any structured requirements as far as after care. On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being best, I'd give him a solid 10!

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.
Family history of extreme obesity-I ate large portions and was hungry all the time-not really an emotional eater. I just love food!

Hey there and thanks for stopping by!  I'd love to help you on your journey-but you'll only get "tough love" here!  I am a firm believer in the fact that you MUST change your habits and your entire lifestyle for a WLS tool to work.  I am also a huge advocate of regular exercise-everyone CAN do it, and must do it--you have to find the right exercise for your fitness level.  Best wishes as you embark on your journey!

My Story

My story is the same as so many of you.  Two obese parents with high blood pressure, diabetes and many other issues.  Father died due to obesity related heart issues at 59, mom died of Alzheimer's at 64.  Now studies are linking diabetes to Alzheimer's, and she had diabetes since she was 32.  I am determined not to follow in their footsteps....I want to live a long healthy life!  After years of obesity and EVERY diet on the planet, I determined WLS was the right tool for me.  Thankfully, I don't have any comorbidities, so I believe the surgery is at the perfect time....before I get them!

May 1, 2009-Surgery day and my 44th birthday!
Several folks thought I was crazy for having a major surgery on my birthday, but I thought it completely fitting!  Surgery was a breeze!  I was up walking about 6 hours later, and only had two doses of pain meds.  I really believe working out for several months before surgery helped.
