Surgeon Testimonial

Paul E. Macik
I had my first appt with him earlier this week. He was not very talkative at all. Robyn the nurse is wonderful. So far Tiffany has been able to answer all of my questions regarding insurance and pricing. I think skill is WAY more important than how talkative he is. I hope to get everything into insurace next week. Hope things go smoothly.

Hello Holiday Weekend!
on May 27, 2012 7:46 am
Hope everyone is having a great weekend :) I have 5 days off work and I am SOOO excited!!! Last night Jay and I went to the Gwinnett Braves games and hung out at the pool. Lets just say it has been in the 90's and this time last year we NEVER would hang out, outside. We would be so uncomfortable and not have any fun at all. But we LOVE being outdoors now! Anytime we get the chance to eat on a patio we do. He has lost 210lbs in 9 months and I am down 156lbs. We still have a little more to go, but it is so encouraging to see the light at the end of the tunnel. It is also a lot of fun to see people I haven't seen in a long time and see their reactions on how good we look. I went to an engagement party last weekend for one of my friends and they all couldn't believe how good I looked. It made me realize I am getting back to the old me they knew in college, not the shy, quiet and scared woman I had become. It was another reminder on how blessed I am to have had this surgery done and get my life back- and I am! Here are some pics from lastnights game and seeing my girlfriends last weekend

One Years Difference
on December 11, 2011 7:18 pm
Ok, so I am totally about to show you some terrible pictures! The first one is me this time last year at Christmas and the other is most recent. Its weird, I can't tell a difference at all. I have lost over 100lbs and I feel wonderful, but for some reason I thought I would look crazy different and I don't think I do. I am so blessed to be a healthier me and this past year has been a wild ride. I NEVER thought I would be where I am today this time last year. I never thought I would have RNY, I just thought I would be fat my whole life. I never thought I would be doing the things I am doing now and making the goals I am making. I am so happy with the way things are going. To everyone just starting this journey...never give up. It will be a hard road and a bumpy one, but it is totally worth it all.
2010 Christmas...whoza!
Sept. 2009...YUCK!

Pictures taken last week :)

Another one more recent...

I have been MIA
on November 20, 2011 7:07 pm
Sooo...surgery came and went. I was not in the hospital 24 hrs. Very little pain at all and I am whimp! I was back to work a week and a half after and I was getting restless. I did have really bad pain in my back from the gas it lasted a few weeks, but now I feel  great! Today I am down 85 lbs!!!! How crazy is that?!?! I seriously cant believe it, its weird I dont see a difference at all. I did go on a shopping trip this weekend and I am a size 24. Thats two pant sizes in 3 months...seriously?!?!? I am also in a 2x shirt. I can shop in regular store now. I LOVE Macys! I am not buying a lot of clothes, but my co workers pulled my aside and said I needed new pants (my size 30 were falling off!) I have been super active at work which is good. Its amazing how much energy I have and how much I am able to walk without stopping. I just got cleared to work out so I am excited about getting in the gym. I really wanna get a trainer but they are pricey! We will see...
I am struggling with wanting bad food. I want pizza, ice cream, french fries you name it I want it. I did find Sugar Free Oreos :) I only have two and I am happy.I also have been sipping water with my meals. I am having a hard time getting my protein in. I try to have a protein shake every morning for breakfast, but it take me all morning to finish it so I am usually not hungry for lunch. One good thing is I am saving a lot of money on food :) It is really hard to cook b/c of the small portions.
I said I was feeling great, but I am having really bad pain in my hips. I have been told it is normal b/c of the weight shifting. It is very painful. I am going to go to the chiropractor to see if they can help. I feel like my hips are totally out of place. We will see. Work has been a big difference too and they gave me a raise and a job title change is coming soon. I finally feel like I am do my best and not feel held back. I still have a long way to go, but it is encouraging to see all the changes starting to happen. I promise to keep you all posted better than I have been.

WE GOT OUR DATE!!!
on July 3, 2011 8:23 am
I can't believe how quickly everything is happening. I am so excited. We got our date August 10th at 7am. I had my upper GI done on Friday and that was way easier than I thought. The barium wasn't bad at all. This week I have my cardio check and my lungs test. Then we are set to go. I am finding myself wanting to eat a lot of bad foods though, b/c I know I will not be able to do it much longer. Starting this week, I am going to stick to my protein shakes and good eating.

Approved!!!
on June 23, 2011 4:40 pm
AHHH! I found out I was approved today!!! I can't believe it, it only took 6 days. WOW! God is amazing and I am over the moon. Now I have to book an upper GI, lung test and heart test. It is looking like August 3rd could be the date!!! Still praying really hard. I am a little nervous about the other test, but I know its totally normal to go through these things. Jason and I are doing this together and I found out first. So I went to Bed, Bath and Beyond and I got him a protein bottle shaker and put in a note that we got approved. He almost jumped off the couch. I cant wait to go though this process with my best friend :)
