Surgeon Testimonial

Philip Chin, M.D.
Dr Chin has been great. He was bright and cheery at 6am. He came and saw me after the surgery to tell me everything went great. He did a great job!

It has been five years this month that I had my surgery.  I am happier and I feel better than I have in at least twenty five years. I know that my decision to have surgery was the right decision for me. I can keep up with my life that includes a 2 year old grandson now. I can play and keep up. My health is better than it has been in ages. I take no meds what so ever and I love that! I pay attention to every thing I eat and plan what to eat now. I take a lunch to work everyday and that makes it so easy to watch what you eat. Fast food is a thing of the past. One big new thing....I can wear high heels again! : )

watch that protein!

I am doing Zumba and still walking and running. I feel a tiredness in my muscles. The new newsletter came out asking "Are you getting enough protein?". After reading it I have decided to do the protein shakes again. I swore off of them after I had to drink them after surgery. If anyone has a suggestion for a product they like, I would love to get the name of it. I would probably be mixing it into fruit smoothies and I don't like chocolate flavored ones.Other than the muscle fatigue I feel good. Being able to walk, run and dance is wonderful. I am still happy everyday I made the choice to have my surgery : ). I even have a two piece this year!

Holiday eating has begun! This sucks, I have gained five pounds and it's only Thanksgiving. I am cutting off baking or at least keeping any around my house. If I bake it must leave immediately. I have been going to support group a few times, it is good motivation. It's funny how I am cold a lot. When I was really heavy I would sweat trying to get my hair blown dry! I am going to walk the dog, he needs it as much as I do! I am looking for tips from people who have been on this journey but I know you all are out there having fun. I did the same thing. I blogged regularly until I lost enough to go have fun too. I remember reading blog after blog before I had surgery, it helped me to make my decision. I hope by picking this back up I can help myself and others too!

Happy Holidays and good luck!

I am just maintaining and not losing. I have increased the exercise but I think the stress of looking for a job is not helping. Any tips to get past a plateau? Not working has given me too much time to cook and bake. I love this time of year and now feel the need to be very careful : )

My Story

I have taken steps towards my goal of having weight loss surgery. I changed to a PPO insurance beginning of this year. I found out I did not have to have a primary doctor's OK. I directly contacted Orange Coast Memorial Hospital which is connected to Dr Leport's Smart Dimensions. I already have an appointment for education on April 29th, that is $200 plus $35 copay for Phy. assistant. Then she said I would be responsible for 20% of the cost which I would pay to the hospital. The lady from Dr Leport's office has been very nice and helpful. I like that I have only had to deal with one person. Right now I look at the before and after pics and imagine what it would be like not to be so big. I am just so uncomfortable. I will update after my education meeting.
