Surgeon Testimonial

John L. Coon, M.D.,
My first impression was that his office staff is very nice and helpful. Dr. Coon is also nice, knowledgeable, and I felt very comfortable talking to him and asking him questions.

When I had my surgery Dr. Coon was great. I had complications but he took good care of me. When I was in the hospital he came to see me often to make sure I was ok. 2 weeks after my surgery I had additional complications and had to go back to the hospital for a small procedure. He came to see me than and it was 10:30pm. I asked him what he was doing in this neck of the woods, and his reply was I had to make sure you were doing all right before the day ended.
I would recomend him. He has very good bedside manner. He even took out my sutchers so I didn't have to wait for the nurses.

New Day Feeling Better
on July 10, 2008 4:51 pm
Hello all.  Well today is a new day and I am felling better.  Good news I am 297lbs .  This is the 1st time I have been under 300lbs since I gave birth to my last daughter 5yrs ago.  I am happy about that.  I am down 39lbs since wls on 6/5 yeah.

Ok I am off work until 8/7 and I am so bored.  I can't do too much as I still have this darn feeding tube in my stomach and it hurts sometimes.  Well but I am alive and ready for new possibilities.

Thank God I'm alive
on July 9, 2008 1:54 pm
Ok so I haven't posted since 6/16 but a lot has happened since then.  1st I turned 40 on 6/26 which was on a thursday the day after i started feeling kinda funny.  Than on the 26th and the 27th i started throwing up and couldn't really keep anything down.  On that friday the 27th I called my doc and the nurse said to try warm tea and go back to just the clear liqs for a few days.  I tried that but that didn't even work.  So on sat the 28th i was throwing up violently all day but I keep thinking I would get better.  Finally at about 8:50pm i ate an ice chip and when that came up 10min later I knew i had to call the doc back.  I called the office and he called me back and told me to go straight to the emergency room and check in.  I got to the hospital and they took blood pressure, it was 187 over 120.  I was at stroke level.  I was severly dehydrated.  Well what happened was my scar tissue had swollen and closed up the hole to my pouch.  It was the size of a pin.  They had to put a scope down my throat with a balloon to open it back up.  I stayed in the hospital 2 days.  Had I not gone when I did, I don't think that I would be alive.  The doc says that this just sometimes happens.  they don't know why but it just happens.  Yesterday I had and appointment and I advanced to stage 3 diet where I can eat soft cooked veggies and moist meats.  I just tried to eat a soft scrambled egg with a little of the meat mixed in with cheese, gotta have protien and it came up.  I am getting a little nervous.  I will just wait to see what happens when I try to eat a little something else.

the healing begins
on June 16, 2008 5:14 pm
hi all.  well the healing has begun.  I am at home, my stomach hurts but I know in time it will feel better.  I don't really feel like eating my soups but i try.  I seem to be surviving on ice water and sugar free popcicles.  I know it will get better.  I am just tired and feel kinda useless.  I will be sooooooo glad when I start to feel a lot better.

wow is all I can say.
on June 11, 2008 7:10 pm
ok all I made it out of surgery.  I went in on june 5th and got out of the hospital on june 10th.  This is how it started.  I went into the OR at 7:24 am the Dr. started out doing the surgery lap, but after 10hrs and it wasn't going good he switched to open.  Yes I was in surgery for 12hrs.  I had a verticle band 18yrs ago that didn't work.  So he tried to get the band off by doing it lap.  It was plastic and would not come off.  Also I had a whole lot of scar tissue and my stomach had fused to my spleen.  this was not pretty at all.  but at the end of the 12hrs(thank God for my  watching over me) I am alive and he said I now have a cute little pouch.
I am very sore though.  well my energy is low so I will finish updating a little later.

My Story

My story, I have been over weight all of my life and it is time for a change.  I have tried several different diets and I even had my stomach stapled 18years ago.  It didn't work, I am still over weight.  So as I approach my 40th B-day, I have decided to have another wls.  This time I know I will work as I have 4 daughters that I need to be around for.
