Surgeon Testimonial

David Starr, M.D., F.A.C.S.
I have really liked Dr. Starr so far, he has been friendly and funny, but made me realize all of the risks and benefits of the surgery.
Through this whole process the saving grace for me has been Tracy in Dr. Starr's office, she remembers me every time I call and is always willing to help out as much as humanly possible.
I also like how Dr.Starr has emphasised me losng wiehgt before the surgery to make it go as smoothly as possible, it has forced me to eat smaller portions and get into an exercise routine.

Monday is your day! Just remember you are on the journey of a lifetime. Try to enjoy every minute. It may sound weird now, but know that you are cared for and prayed for here, and all too soon this will be but a memory and you will be an inspiration to someone else. I am waiting for you on the losers' bench!

So I found out just after starting the surgery process that one of my co-workers was also having the surgery done, and at the same hospital as I am. He is much larger than I am but is having the surgery in August. I am so ecited becasue I have someone who is in the same school as me to talk to me about what it was like, his experience and what to expect when I go into the hospital.
Needless to say, the time keeps coming closer and closer.. only 4 months away and three months until I have my final doctors appointment to get the Optifast. I can't wait. I wish it was happening NOW! haha... but alas, I must wait

It's getting close!

All I can think about is having my surgery, I'm already in stores looking at clothes that I would like to wear and thinking "wow.. someday I'll be able to shop in a regular store again.. " The last time I did that was when I was 13 and I remember growing out of the store's size 15 pants!

I've been reading other people's profiles and it's so amazing to see the transformation in their attitudes and in their looks!

I'm trying to drop weight right now before my surgery so I can be as healthy as possible going into it. It's been really hard and my body isn't totally cooperating. My knees scream after a bike ride and my back aches constantly, but I'm not one to give up.
My goal weight is 135-140lbs, but my doctor said that may be a bit ambitious. We'll see how it goes, I suppose.. It's going to take a lot of hard work which I am definitely willing to do!

My Story

I think the first thing I want to do is tell everyone my ultimate goals for my surgery (I did take one or two of these from someone else's profile.. I guess deep down, we all kind of want the same things)

1. To shop in regular stores! I want to go to the mall with my friends and not want to cry knowing it's a waste of my time to go into any of the stores.
2. Not have constant pain in my back and in my knees.
3. Wear high heels without terrible pain.
4. Play sports again without stares!
5. Go for an entire month without ONE negative comment about my weight!
6. Be able to swap clothes with my size 10 roomate.
7. Be able to borrow someone else's (insert article of clothing here) when I forget it at my own house or I want to go out without them having to go to their father's or large boyfriend's closet or me having to squeeze into their largest article of clothing.
8. To not be the pretty chubby one and starting just being the pretty one!
9. TO FEEL GOOD AND BE HEALTHY!
