Well...hello, Everybody. I finished a six-day stint in the hospital on Friday. We had quite a bit of trouble getting my incisions to heal...and the one from the drain finally healed over about three weeks ago. The Wed. before Christmas, it became swollen and very red, and the next day it burst open again and the discharge was bloody brown, and very smelly. Sorry...TMI...but it was bad. I went to the ER here in Greensboro, NC on Christmas at 3 am, and was transported by ambulance to Durham Regional after a ct scan and some blood work. Several days of IV antibiotics, and I'm on the road again, I think. I'm on immunosuppressant drugs for Lupus and Autoimmune Hepatitis, so I heal pretty slowly, and it complicates things. Dr. Sudan has been so great. I'm not his usual "Sudan Smooth" patient...but he keeps on keeping on. Thanks for everyone's concern.

Hi Linda! I haven't seen any posts from you since your surgery and I hope everything is going well and you are having an incredibly boring recovery! Hope to hear from you soon. There are a few of us who are anxious to hear from you! Hugs, Darcy

Continuing Research

I continue to check out all information on the OH boards, and have become quite interested in the DS.  The strong chance that someone with my autoimmune issues will not do well with a Lap Band caused me to check out the DS, and everything I read encourages me.  I will definitely be talking with Dr. Sudan about it when I get an appointment with him - which will be after my 4th consecutive PCP visit in May.  Best of luck to everyone out there struggling with all the considerations and choices - as I am!
