Surgeon Testimonial

Ralph Crum, M.D.
Dr. Crum is an excellent surgeon. He did a great job and was very thorough in the procedure. His PA, Meggan, is also as knowledgeable. I have enjoyed him and his entire staff.

My First impression was that he was straight and to the point. I never really changed my opinion of him throughout the process. His office staff is WONDERFUL! There was nothing I didn't like about Dr. Crum.

His aftercare program requires you to attend support group meetings once a month. If you miss 3, he drops you as a patient.

I would rate him a 10!

1 year out!
on May 28, 2008 1:24 pm
I cannot believe it's been a year!  It's gone by so quickly!

Update on me:  I've lost 152 lbs.  I currently weigh 134 lbs.  That's 16 lbs below my goal weight.  I wear a size 6 pants and a medium top.

I found out this month that the doctor that did my surgery has been denied licensure by the State of Texas.  Makes me sad, but what can I do?  I'm looking into other options for a doctor now.  I have been one of the lucky ones that hasn't encountered any problems.  I don't know what I would do if I had!

Sorry, I haven't updated (as if anybody reads this) but I've been busy.  I went on a cruise and LOVED IT!  It was our 4th cruise but I loved it so much I have another one scheduled for September of next year.

on February 27, 2008 11:39 am
Well, today I hit a major mile stone marker!  I made it to my goal weight.  I am 9 months and 6 days out from surgery and I'm at my GOAL!  I can't believe I can even say that!  I'M AT MY GOAL WEIGHT!
This has been and amazing journey!  I don't regret any of it!  I love the decision I made to have this surger!

9 Months - 2/20/2008
on February 20, 2008 10:56 am
OMG!  How times flies!  I can't believe it's been 9 months!  It has just been so amazing.

I am down 134 lbs.  2 lbs from MY goal weight of 150!  WAHOO!  I wouldn't have thought it would come off that fast but it has.  I am getting my protein in on a daily basis and making sure I take all my vitamins.  I, honestly, haven't had any problems.  Do I dump?  Yes.  But I go to extreme efforts to not eat the stuff that makes me dump.  If it makes me dump once, I'm done with it.  I don't go back to it.  I know that's not what you're supposed to do but I am so worried about dumping that's how I handle it.

I also make sure that when I eat out that I don't eat too much.  So much so, that I probably eat less when we eat out.  But, hey, it works for me!

I am in the process of trying to buy clothes for an upcoming cruise.  Boy, is that fun!  I bought a pair of shorts, size 8.  I didn't try them on in the store so when I got home I put them on.  THEY WERE TOO BIG!  So...back to the store and I had to get a size 6!  OMG!  A SIZE 6!  I love shopping for clothes now.  I've never had this much fun shopping.  I still have lots to buy for our cruise but I've got time!

As to how I feel?  I feel great!  Never better.  I am so glad I had this surgery.  It has just changed my life immensely.

Now my doctor needs to get his office set up.  That's been an ordeal!  There's lots I don't know but I do know isn't good.  I'm glad he's staying and glad that his mess with TT hasn't soured him too badly on the Texas Panhandle!

5 months - 10/25/07
on October 25, 2007 12:57 pm

5 months!  Who’d a thought!  I am down 99 lbs.  I feel great!  I am so glad I had this surgery done!

I’m also hearing I’m pretty lucky to have had it done when I did.  My doctor is going on a job interview in Des Moines IA.   From what I hear he is getting frustrated with those people that aren’t going to our support group meetings.  I go and I live an hour away.  Do I like going on Wednesday nights and not getting home until after 9pm?  No!  Did I sign a contract saying I would go?  YES!  So, I go.  Besides it’s only one night a month.  I think I can sacrifice a little bit for that.

I hope he doesn’t go.  I don’t another doctor!

Well, on to positive things….I am down from a size 22/24 to a size 16 and that size is getting big on me.  I am able to walk 2.5 miles at night and not get winded and feel great after walking!  I also work out 3 times a week at Curves for Women.  They just got the Smart Equipment at our gym!  It’s gonna be so nice!

I have had a few WOW Moments.  One was were my daughter came in the kitchen and was looking at my rear end…she informed me “Momma, even your butt is getting little!”  Another one was when we were on a motorcycle run and I got cold.  My husband takes his leather jacket out of the trunk of our Harley and hands it to me...and it fits!  You see he’s ALWAYS been smaller than me!  But now I can wear his jacket!  (Or MY JACKET as I like to refer to it!).  All this makes you feel good!

Four Months Out
on September 24, 2007 9:17 am

Okay, so it’s been 4 months!  I can’t believe it has been 4 months.  I can’t believe how much my life has changed since that day in May!  I am down 86 lbs!  Just one pound away from Onderland!  I haven’t seen those numbers in a very long time!  I’m so very glad the scales have started moving again!  That’s so frustrating!

As for how I’m feeling, I feel great!  I’m working out 3 days a week at Curves for Women.  In a month I lost 13 inches!  WAHOO!  That was an awesome feeling.  I’m down from a size 22/24 to a 16.  I bought a new shirt the other day.  It was the first time I was actually able to buy a shirt in the ‘regular’ clothes!  It’s amazing how that will make you feel!

We are in the process of planning and paying for a group cruise for my entire family.  It’s not until May of 2008.  I keep wanting to buy clothes because of all the good sales on summer clothes right now but because I don’t know what size I’ll be I can’t!  I just can’t wait until two weeks before the cruise because my hubby has promised me he’d buy me a whole new wardrobe for our cruise!  So, now I have something to look forward to!
