Surgeon Testimonial

William Chapman M.D.
Here is my personal experience with my surgeon. If you choose him, your experience may be different. This review is only my personal opinion.

Dr. Chapman is a very skilled surgeon. He is very nice and extremely sensitive to your needs. He is tough, though and he wants you to be sure that you understand his program. He does not really compromise on that front.

Aftercare so far has been great! The staff is responsive and will call as soon as possible (many times within 2 hours) if you have a question, no matter how trivial you may think it is! The best part for me has been no co-pays for 90 days post-op! That saves me loads of money...

If you choose Dr. Chapman, there will be lots of paperwork for you to sign, so you know what you are getting into (as much as you can know before surgery).

So far I would rate him an A+ for surgical competence and an A for bedside manner. He is in and out so fast, you have to have your questions ready! He will stay to answer them, though, no matter how many you may have.

I am very happy with my surgeon choice.

Day 12...
on April 20, 2010 8:30 am
OK.. Day 12 sucked... I was just as hungry as I was on Day 2!  O Lawd! I thought, if I could just have one bite of meat... all would be well... Well one bite of chicken almost killed me!  I ate it... and it tasted like heaven.... 10 minutes later... it was coming up!!!!  Oh well... it was just too much for my empty system to handle... I had no business trying it anyway!

An hour later...I was acting like I had good sense again...and ate my soup.

Days 10 & 11 of pre-op diet...
on April 18, 2010 6:52 pm
OK... the fact that I did NOT post yesterday means I was sane for most of the day!  Yea!!! Yesterday, I went to support group, and did all of my last-minute shopping for things I will need after surgery.

Today I was insane... but not from hunger... I had energy like I have never had before!  I am nesting since surgery is 4 days away... So here is what I was able to accomplish between 10:00 AM and 7:00 PM

Did my spring visual inspection of the exterior of my home (all is well)
Read the Sunday paper (all of it)

Phone calls to two family members, and two friends
Vacuumed and mopped kitchen, dining room and two bathrooms
Salted carpets (easy way to clean them between professional cleanings plus it deters spring critters!)
Cleaned one bathroom (including scrubbing fiberglass shower)
Plucked all the dead leaves off all my plants
Scrubbed kitchen cabinets
Washed, dried, folded and put away 5 loads of clothes
Washed all throw rugs (let them dry outside)
Washed all window sills and tops of windows inside
Ironed spring linens
Ironed clothes for the work week
Flipped my mattress and changed bedding
Put all furniture back from earlier mopping

And I still remembered to drink my shakes.... I had my dinner soup at 7:30... and still have one more shake to go...

I am just now getting tired as I post this... I wonder if I will ever have this kind of energy again!

I guess I'll vacuum carpets tomorrow!

Day 9...
on April 16, 2010 6:24 am
OK... so far so good... Leslie Sansone and I walked our mile this morning... I am sipping my morning tea... all is in balance. I am just starting to get hungry so I will have my first shake soon.

Here's what I figured out on my walk this morning. I am not a sweets person... everything on this pre-op diet is sweet (except the soup).  If I were a chocoholic... I'd have no worries... but I am a salty/crunchy girl.  This diet provides none of that, so it is very hard for me.  I cannot wait to get to the pureed stage so I can have something non-sweet!  I'd bet cottage cheese would taste good to me right now!  Well... maybe not cottage cheese, but you get the idea.

I am still hungry most of the time, but I don't have that crazy-in-my-head feeling all day...

Only 6 days until surgery... I still am not nervous... I just want to stop being hungry....

Day 8...
on April 15, 2010 8:37 am
OK... the diet has beaten me into submission.  I am not going to fight it today.  I have decided to just go with it... stop mourning my need to chew and my need to be in a self-induced "carb-coma".  This is it!  This is my chance to make a real change for myself and I have been reverting to the familiar feelings of anger and frustration.

So today... is different... so far I have not been hungry... (a miracle)... and I have had my breakfast shake... and I will have my lunch and snack shakes later... and then I will eat my soup like a grown person and suck down that last one before I go to bed...

And that is that... one day at a time...

OK... we'll see if I feel like this tomorrow! No guarantees!

Day 7...
on April 14, 2010 6:34 am
Last night I broke!  I thought I was going to eat my couch... so I had one tablespoon of peanut butter... ahh... sanity returns... then I went to bed...

Today... I am fine... but I forgot to pack one of my shakes... I may have to go home at lunch and get that stewpid shake to prevent a repeat of yesterday!  I wonder if the mile Leslie Sansone and I walked yesterday was the impetus of yesterday's meltdown? To be on the safe side...I did not visit her today!

I'm back on track... looking ahead and I think I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!  TTFN (Ta Ta For Now)!
