Surgeon Testimonial

William Chapman M.D.
Here is my personal experience with my surgeon. If you choose him, your experience may be different. This review is only my personal opinion.

Dr. Chapman is a very skilled surgeon. He is very nice and extremely sensitive to your needs. He is tough, though and he wants you to be sure that you understand his program. He does not really compromise on that front.

Aftercare so far has been great! The staff is responsive and will call as soon as possible (many times within 2 hours) if you have a question, no matter how trivial you may think it is! The best part for me has been no co-pays for 90 days post-op! That saves me loads of money...

If you choose Dr. Chapman, there will be lots of paperwork for you to sign, so you know what you are getting into (as much as you can know before surgery).

So far I would rate him an A+ for surgical competence and an A for bedside manner. He is in and out so fast, you have to have your questions ready! He will stay to answer them, though, no matter how many you may have.

I am very happy with my surgeon choice.

I'm Freezing!
on December 31, 2010 6:47 pm
All the time I am cold!  I realize that I no longer have that 100 pound insulation... but dang!

I celebrated the New Year with friends earlier today and am now snuggled up on my own couch... I have on a thermal shirt, sweatshirt, sweatpants and fuzzy socks... and I am still cold!

I have the heat on a decent temperature... now I guess I'll turn on the gas logs...

Here's to not having icicles on my eyelashes in the morning!

OK... NOW I'm 8 months out!
on December 30, 2010 12:25 pm
I jumped the gun with my last post... I can't count... the 22nd of December was my 8 month surgiversary!  Life is good now but challenges in life don't stop just because you look and feel great!  Several of my friends have lost parents and other loved ones this holiday season, so that's a real bummer.

My new boyfriend is not acting right and I have no idea why... so that's a bummer too!  I am sure we will work things out... or not... but either way... it's how I cope with the stress that is the real miracle!

I am no longer running to the Cheetos or to slices of pizza when I am stressed out.  Now, I cry; talk to friends; get on OH or FB; pray.  I feel like I have lost a lifetime of practicing my coping skills.  I was always in the bottom of some chip or fast food bag. Now I am dusting off my skills and putting them to good use!  This is REAL progress...

I spent the holidays with my dad and stepmother.  Actually they came to see me.  It was lovely!  Even though they stayed an extra THREE DAYS due to the snow storm we had; it was still a great time!  I was even sad to see them go.  My stepmother noticed that I move quickly now.  She said I used to stroll, and now I just fly along!  Doesn't matter if I am at home, or in the mall; I just fly right along!  I really hadn't noticed, so that was funny to me!

I cooked a very WLS-friendly Christmas dinner.  First, I had courses and not the buffet usually found at my family gatherings.  There was a salad course, soup course, entree and dessert.  Dessert was poached pears, blueberry pie and pound cake (for the regular gutted folks)... but I was able to eat all the courses with ease!  I will definitely do that again!

We walked every other day during the holidays (I figure that's OK... I am on vacation )

And to top it all off, I lost 3 pounds this week (total of 97 pounds gone)!  So even with the big drama... I am doing OK... and most importantly, I am staying balanced...

Happy New Year to you OH Family!  I pray that 2011 brings you all the best life has to offer!

Eight Months Out...
on December 3, 2010 8:34 pm
Life is grand!  So sorry I haven't taken the time to blog... I have been busy living!  So let's see... I haven't weighed since Tuesday, but so far I am down 93 pounds!  Yea me!  I am so excited about that!  Believe you me, that it is so much easier to move through life now.  I had no idea how much I was struggling!

I have posted a picture in my photo section that was taken 11-29-10.  You can go back through my albums to see how far I have come. I am not where I want to be yet, but I have less weight to go than what I have already lost!  I cannot believe that the scales have tipped in my favor (pun intended )!

I am so grateful to my support group for the unending supply of clothes!  I am sure I will discover what my own style is later... but for now I am styling on the fly!  I am currently in about an 16-18... down from 26/28 (that were tight).

A friend of mine says that my decision to have RNY surgery shows how brave I am... How sweet is that???? I never considered myself brave... desperate... but not brave.  But what I have discovered is that it takes courage to live your best life... And I am definitely living my best life!

Cheers to us all!
