Surgeon Testimonial

Rayford Kruger M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Thomas Streeter (Wareham, MA)
My first impression was at the informational seminar. He was all business - but in a good way - and answered everyone's questions at the end of the video presentation.
When I met with him at my consultation appointment he could not have been nicer. He put me at ease and answered any questions I had - I didn't feel rushed at all. Pleasant surprise - the chairs in the exam rooms are made for larger people!
His staff is fantastic - very informative and eager to help. I dealt with Kelly at his office - she is SO great!
The second appointment I had with him was VERY rushed. I had a bit of a wait that time, and once he came in to see me we spoke for about 2 minutes and we were done. It was so quick and caught me off guard so I wasn't able to think of my questions at that time...my suggestion (which I usually do myself) - is to write down your questions!!
Other than that...so far Dr. Streeter (in Dr. Kruger's office) has been great. I am looking forward to my surgery and becoming a big loser!

Tomorrow is your day! Just remember you are on the journey of a lifetime. Try to enjoy every minute. It may sound weird now, but know that you are cared for and prayed for here, and all too soon this will be but a memory and you will be an inspiration to someone else. I am waiting for you on the losers' bench!

It's a Winter One-derland...
on December 23, 2007 12:44 pm
I can't believe I'm under 200 lbs already...I weighed myself this morning and I'm at 198.8...I haven't been under 200 lbs in at least 4 years.  It hasn't even been 11 weeks yet!   This is the best thing I could have ever done for myself.  The first 2 weeks - I thought otherwise, but I am very happy today!!!
I did learn the other day that I will need to have day surgery to remove a kidney stone...I'm having that on Jan. 4th.  The kidney stone started in November - but I didn't know what it was at first.   Needless to say - I can't wait until this is over and done with...!
I have been so lucky otherwise. I really have not had any surgery-related problems.  After the Holidays I will get back into the gym as well.  I had bronchitis for a few weeks - this kidney stone - and with my crazy work schedule...I have not been able to get to the Y.   I had to go back on my blood-pressure meds - so exercise will certainly be needed to get that back under control.
OK - Christmas in 2 days....HO HO HO!!

The first time I've LOST weight on Thanksgiving!
on November 23, 2007 9:02 pm
I actually lost a pound....it's crazy!  Not too much to say.  Just enjoying the fact that I didn't gorge myself this year - although I still feel like I was able to enjoy myself.  I made some amazing sugar-free desserts for my in-law's as well as my Mom's. Everyone enjoyed them...and I didn't feel like I was missing out.  It was all good - and I didn't feel sick at all yesterday.  Unfortunately, I have been having trouble today with my stomach though.  I have had IBS ever since I can remember - but since this surgery, I have had the opposite problem...and have had to take Milk of Magnesia a few times a week (at my surgeon's recommendation).  It's just gross....but it does help. OK...too much information.
I'm getting a nice cold...need to sleep!

I can't believe it's been 5 weeks!
on November 13, 2007 5:22 pm
Seriously - it's gone by pretty quick!  I've been back to work for a week...that's no fun, but things are going well.  People have started noticing my weight loss now, which is great, but I can't wait to get off all my meds!  It's weird...I have always been so worried about how I look - but since the surgery, I have been more concerned about my health.  I'm just more aware of my body and what I put into it - and what it needs.

My 6 week follow up with the Doctor is next week and I really hope I can get off my blood pressure meds by then.  If I can get off those, then all I will be left with is my Thyroid pills - and I assume I'll be on those for life...but I can live with that!

I am down about 23 lbs since surgery (I had lost 10 lbs prior) - so 33 lbs in the last few months is pretty cool.  I'm starting to feel much better - like I'm myself again.  Now - if only I could work less and get to the gym more!!!

Post-Op!
on October 18, 2007 8:25 pm
9 days post-op and feeling better every day. I'm still a bit sore, and I'm sure that is normal, but I just can't wait to feel 100% again.  Thankfully I have 4 paid weeks off to get myself together again.  Getting used to my new stomach (and life) will take some time.

Today is our 4th wedding anniversary! My husband has been so great through this whole process...he has helped me every step of the way.  Although I miss our time out for our anniversary (we always go out to dinner), it's been nice to just hang out together - and I didn't have to think about or worry about what I'm going to eat.  We exchanged gifts and just hung out today. He is so sweet - he got me a Old Navy gift card so I can get some nice clothes as I transition through the weight loss.  I am one of those people  that has clothes from size 16-24, so I won't need too many new clothes for a while... I will be checking out some Consignment shops to help offset the cost of my smaller sizes....and  I have already told my family that gift cards will be the perfect gift for Christmas!  I'm getting ahead of myself...but it is fun to think about the clothes I'll be able to wear!

OK - off to bed....I can't wait until I can sleep on my side again!

I have a date!!
on September 30, 2007 6:46 pm

October 9th...that's my date.  I can't wait to have this lifechanging surgery.  I am so ready.
I see my surgeon tomorrow as well as the nurse...it's all just a matter of days now.
That's about all I have to time to write for now.
