Surgeon Testimonial

Philippe Quilici
Dr. Quilici was very pleasant and very straightforward. He told me what his recommendation would be for me, the steps I had to complete before surgery would be scheduled, and I felt very comfortable with him. The most informative part of my first visit was the time spent with the nutritionist, Julie. She was very helpful, explained about the surgery and what to expect post op. Very knowledgeable and nice. There were 3 of us \"first timers\" and we sat in a group for the nutrition part, then we all had one-on-one time with Dr. Quilici. They have support groups twice a week, and a good follow up program (from what I've read so far)

Workin' for a livin'
on January 31, 2007 7:39 pm
I made it!  Didn't do too bad, if I do say so myself.  I really had to focus on getting my fluids in, because the distraction of work can make an hour go by in a blink it seems.  Believe me, if I had more PTO, I would have DEFINITELY been off this week.  The exhaustion is the worst part for me right now.  Oh well, this too shall pass. Right?

Going back to work tomorrow
on January 30, 2007 3:17 pm

4 days post op, and feeling better.  The nausea is better - today is much better than yesterday.  Pain is only sporadic, and I think I'm ready to get back to work tomorrow.   I don't have a physically demanding job, so hopefully I won't have any problems with lasting the full day.  I'm pretty exhausted, but still trying to walk and move around as much as possible.  If my dear son hadn't put crayons in the treadmill, it would be a little easier to keep track of how much walking I'm actually doing.  (The crayons make is so slick - it grabs then slides out from under you - very dangerous!!)  Love that little bugger!  He keeps up hopping!  Well, peace to all.

"The other side"
on January 28, 2007 8:02 pm

Well, give thanks to the maker, I made it home!  What a trip.  Man, I had no idea I could be that nauseated.  I think everything went fairly well, until my guts started waking up.  The pain/nausea was not very well contolled.  I kept asking for Zofran (it's the gold standard for nausea control), but they kept giving me droperidiol, which did absolutely nothing for the nausea.  Then, this morning, low and behold, they have Zofran for me(?) - but  I'd gotten over the worst suffering, and didn't really need it.  So even though I was a little behind in my intake, they let me come home today (yeah!)  So, happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me!

Hey there friends! Leaving for the hospital soon!
on January 26, 2007 9:46 am

Hi friends!
The last 2 days went by in a blur!  I had to have a repeat lab test drawn on Wednesday after work because the sample had clotted, or something like that.  SO....I should be off to the hospital in about 2 hours or so.  I've got to pack and get stuff together.  (Nothing like putting it off until the last minute eh?)  Just wanted to touch base and let you know how much I appreciate the support.  I will see you on the other side!!!

Better today....until
on January 24, 2007 12:44 pm

I am so much better today about the "hungry" thing.  I'm not sure what hit me yesterday, but WOW I was hungry.  I think everything is ready for Friday, but now I'm not so sure.  I got a message on my phone from my primary doctor's office asking me to call back at 2pm, but didn't say what it's about.  Of course, now I'm wiggin' that there's something wrong with my blood work, and they won't let me do the surgery.  It's probably nothing, but it could be something.  Crap.  I'm not a very patient person these days!  Deep breaths.  Calming thoughts.  Wish me luck!
