My first impression of Dr. P was she was genuinely concerned about me as a patient. She is highly qualified and very knowledgeable--I love her manner and the way she speaks to you as a person--not at you like some Drs. do. As I progressed through the journey to surgery she was helpful and caring. On surgery day she was just the best--kind caring and she is a hugger!!! After in recovery she came to see me she even waked the halls a bit with me and when I was discharged she gave me her cell phone number! Overall she is the best surgeon and I couldn't be happier with everything!!

    Hi Laura, welcome to this "Grand Band of Losers". You're the latest Barix Girl and you're gonna do great! Take it slow for now, do the walking today, and the sipping tomorrow. Follow the lead the Barix nurses will provide and you'll leave looking like you didn't have surgery today. Some amazing stuff is coming your way. Get Ready.

Still Stressing but now ...not so much!!..sorta

So I have some answers to my panic stricken state of yesterday (Which was the last post--that also was posted on PA boards of OH). Anyways, it seems I am in fact going to go for the 2nd sleep study for the CPAP and see how that goes.  But I go on Thursday to find out.  Then it seems I will have to utilize the CPAP machine for a certain number of hours before my actual surgery.  

Since I am a now a former smoker (1 month 1 week!!! YAY!!) They want to be extra careful and since I am "borderline" with sleep apnea or so they said at the place...stopped breathing 9 times an hour...I don't know is that borderline ?? They want to do the sleep study again with the CPAP machine.

On the home front...things are definitely stressed.  Not between hubby and me. But between me and his girls who live with us.  I don't know they are 12 and 15 so maybe itis the age, maybe it is hormones, or maybe I really am the evil stepmother. I don't know...its all crazy here and I am definitely feeling the pain now...I don't sleep well to begin with well now I don't sleep at all cause my mind just races and races and races with everything that is going on.  What did I do wrong? How do I fix it ? Is everything going to work out ?  AHHHHHH!! Put all that on top of work, quitting smoking, trying to lose weight, oh and completing course works for my Master's Degree....I am really feeling the brunt of it right now.   

So here I am a somewhat mess but still hanging in there and hoping for the best...

The Panic and Anxiety Have Set IN

Hey everyone!  So I am officially freaking out and beginning to panic!!!  I had my follow up to ISN for my sleep study results...everything was fine I am borderline no need for CPAP or follow up study so yay or so I thought... 

I call Michelle over at Dr.P's to make sure the sleep results were faxed over she said she would check and call me back.  I am just trying to double check and make sure everything is ok. Then today Michelle leaves me a voicemail saying that ISN said I need a CPAP and another study!!!  THEY SAID NO SUCH THING!!  The Dr. at ISN was like you're borderline and you will have the surgery so that should be fine!  No follow up no need for the machine

So I call Michelle back and of course I get her voicemail and I tell her that was wrong and they have me mixed up or something and then I call ISN and of course it goes to voicemail there too and I leave the same message and now I am a complete mess and freaking out!!

Insurance Approval!!

So this was an extremely busy week fo me!!  I had my blood tests, my sleep study, and got my insurance approval!!  YAY!!

The blood tests were a bit painful as the tech could not find veins in my arms so finally after 5 tries I told her the last time I had blood drawn at the doctor's office they took it from my hand.  Okay...so she did and now my hand is swollen and bruised in a big circle around where the needle was inserted.  But I am not going to complain because it brings me one step closer to WLS!!  

The sleep study was interesting to say the least!! I never had anything done like that before and I felt like a science fiction freak with all those wires coming off my face and head!!  My tech was great and I didnt seem to have any huge problems so that was good!!

All in all I am very happy to be moving forward and getting closer to WLS!!
